The aim of the present study is to carry out a bibliographic review regarding oral changes resulting from the use of electronic cigarettes. The PubMed database was used, with the following terms and operators: “electronic cigarette” OR "e-cigarette" OR "electronic cigarettes" AND “oral health” from January 2015 to January 2020. Books were also used and epidemiological data. The inclusion criteria were articles published in Portuguese and / or English, which met the theme proposed by the study. Non-systematic literature reviews and articles that did not strictly refer to the topic were excluded. The final result was a sample of 14 articles, in which 7.14% (n = 1) was classified as a systematic review, 78.57% (n = 11) as an “in vivo” study; 7.14% (n = 1) as a case control study and 7.14% (n = 1) as a pilot study. There was a low level of published evidence on the results of oral health. The effects mentioned referred to periodontal changes and cellular damage to oral tissues. In addition, the use of electronic cigarettes has not demonstrated health security in its entirety.
Endodontics is the specialty that covers the control of inflammation of the root canal, the etiology, diagnosis, prevention and therapeutic intervention of diseases associated with the pulp. The objective of the present study is to highlight the current concepts related to the use of bioceramic materials in dentistry. This is a literature review article, developed through a bibliographic survey in the databases Medline, PubMed, Scielo and Periodicos CAPES. The present study showed a gradual increase in research related to bioceramic cements, which may attribute this interest to the importance of having a constant search for improvement of the techniques and materials used to recover oral health. In addition, a broad clinical applicability of these materials in Endodontics was highlighted, due to the evidence found regarding the advantageous properties, such as their excellent biocompatibility, ability to bond to dentin, good radiopacity, better handling conditions, appropriate setting time, bactericidal activity, bioactivity and still, do not cause stains in dental structures, characteristics sought for a restorative material to be efficient.
Hemangioma is a tumor considered histologically benign of mesenchymal origin, characterized by the formation of vascular endothelial cells and can be divided into two types, capillary and cavernous, depending on the dominant microscopic size of the vessels. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to analyze what exists in the specialized literature on the diagnosis and treatment of hemangioma. This study was carried out based on bibliographic research, in the respective databases: Pubmed and CAPES Periodicals between the years 2011 and 2020. The research was carried out at DeCS (Health Sciences Descriptors) to choose the descriptors: “Oral Pathology”; “Diagnosis” and “Vascular Malformations”. Ten scientific productions that met the inclusion criteria and were selected. The diagnosis of hemangioma, except in intraosseous cases, can be easily established in a simple and safe way through anamnesis, clinical examination and through semi-technical maneuvers, such as vitro pressure, in most cases this maneuver is conclusive. Because it is a vascular lesion, incisional biopsy is contraindicated in these cases, due to the great risk of bleeding.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
