AUS Naphthionsaure entsteht unter dem EinfluB von Luftsauerstoff und in Anwesenheit von Natriumhydrogensulfit ein Derivat, das bei erhohtem Reduktionsvermogen auch die belichtete photographische Platte eu entwickeln vermag. Es werden optimale Bedingungen fur seine Bildung und die bisher aufgefundenen Charakterisierungsreaktionen beschrieben.

Januur 1962)Im Falle von Naphthalinderivaten ist nach unserem heutigen Wissen die Fahigkeit, das latente photographische Bild chemisch zu entwickeln, an das Vorhandensein von mindestens zwei der als wirksam erkannten G r u p p n -OH oder -NH, im Molekiil der Verbindung gekniipft. Dabei konnen sich die wirksamen Gruppen im Trigermolekiil auf beide Kerne verteilen. Eine zusatzliche Sulfonsauregruppe erniedrigt das Entwicklungsvermogen der Muttersubstanz, allerdings nicht so stark als bei den entsprechenden Derivaten der Benzolreihe,), Unter diesen Gesichtspunkten iibcrrascht es nicht, daO weder Aminonaphthalinsulfonslure noch Naphtholsulfonsaure, auch nicht physikalische Gemische von beiden Xubstanzen, ein Entwicklungsvermogen entfalten. Beide sind zwar Reduktionsmittel, indem sie beispielsweise Phosphormolybdansaure in ihre Coeruleoverhindungen iiberfiihren, aber sie eignen sich noch nicht fur den Reduktions-prozeO auf der belichteten photographischen Platte.Fur die Einfiihrung einer zweiten wirksamen Gruppe in das Molekul der Naphthionsaure und in das der Naphtholsulfonsaure steht keine einfache chemische Umsetzung zur Verfugung. Vielmehr rniissen die mit zwei oder mehreren wirksamen Gruppen ausgestatteten Derivate heider Sulfonsauren auf dem Wege iiber andere Verbindungen erhalten werden.Man darf daher wohl die Beobachtung, dafi die Naphthionsaure (Naphthylamin-(l)-sulfonsaure-(4)), gelost in einem Gemisch von Natrium-sulfit-bisulfit h e i m S t e h e n a n d e r L u f t u n t e r d e r E i n w i r k u n g d e s L u f t s a u e r s t o f f s in e i n e V e r b i n d u n g i i b e r g e h t , d i e d a s l a t e n t e L i c h t b i l d zu e n tw i c k e l n v e r m a g , als einen Befund von grundsatzlicher Bedeuturig bezeichnen.I n der vorausgehenden Abhandlung dieser Untersu~hungsreihe~) haben wir dariiber berichtet, daD das Reduktionsvermogen einer Losung von Naphthionsaure in einein Natrium-sulfit-bisu1fit)gemischgemessen gegeniiber Phosphormolybdansaure in schwefelsaurem Milieubeim Stehen an der Luft oder beim Durchperlen von Luft oder Sauerstoff zunirnmt,, einen fiir die jeweiligen aiuoeren Bedingungen weitgehend konstanten Endwert erreicht und diesen iiber Monate hinaus belialt. Andererseits kanri diese Erhohung der Wirksamkeit durch sorgfaltigen AusschluW von Sauerstoff vollig ferngehalteii werden.
