This research aims to determine the relationship between hope and acceptance of parents toward children with special needs in special education school in all district of Ngawi. This research’s design used quantitative, with correlational research types. The subject in this research were parents of children with special needs who are at junior high and senior high special school levels, amounting to 52 people. Determination of subject used purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique used two attitude scale, namely parents hope scale (α=0,873) and parents acceptance scale (α=0,877). Data analysis used product moment correlation between Pearson. The result of correlation test showed a correlation coefficient value of 0,688 with value rtabel of 0,279, so rhit > rtabel (ρ<0,05) for a significance level of 5%. The result of correlation test is that there was a positive significant relationship between hope and acceptance of parents toward children with special needs who are at junior high and senior high special school levels in special education school in all districts of Ngawi.
The research was conducted to determine the effect of the concept sentence learning model in improving the learning achievement of social sciences for a student with hearing impairment class VII in SLB B YRTRW Surakarta. The research used the experimental method with one group pre-test and post-test design consisted of pretest, treatment, and posttest. The treatment was done 4 times (90 minutes for each meeting). The subjects of the research were eight students with hearing impairment of class VII in SLB B YRTRW Surakarta. The sampling technique used in this research was non-probability sampling with purposive sampling. The data collection was carried out by written test consisted of 27 questions. Content validity was used to test the validity of the test instrument, while Alpha-Cronbach formula was used to test the reliability. The validity test showed that the test instrument was valid, while the reliability test also showed that the test instrument was reliable (r=0.997). Data analysis technique used in this research was the non-parametric analysis with Wilcoxon Signed Rank test. The result showed that the mean score of posttest (76.11) was higher than the mean score of pretest (48.6). Based on the nonparametric analysis statistic value with Wilcoxon Signed Rank test (Z score=-2.524; Asymp.Sig=0.012 (<0.05)), it can be concluded that the concept sentence learning model affects the learning achievement of social studies for a student with hearing impairment class VII in SLB B YRTRW Surakarta.
This study aims to determine the competence of special education teacher (SET) in inclusive schools in Indonesia based on self-evaluation, including pedagogic, personality, professional, social, and special education competencies. This research is a survey research with quantitative approach involving 265 SETs from 4 districts in Central Java as research respondent with purposive cluster sampling technique. The variables studied were SET competence, including pedagogic, social, personality, professional, and special education competencies. Data were collected with SET Competence inventory scale consisting of 95 items. The instrument validity test was done with content validity followed by analysis of different item with Product-Moment Pearson correlation (r = 0.422-0.765) and reliability test with Alpha-Cronbach formula (r = 0.751). Data analysis was done by descriptive statistical analysis. SET evaluation results were in good category, although there is still a small part of the SET that assesses their selves in poor competence. Nevertheless, this SET competency assessment is still based on self-evaluation results. Therefore, this evaluation results still need to be continued with other evaluations, such as portfolio assessment, performance appraisal, SET performance assessment, and assessment of the success of students with special needs in order to obtain SET competency comprehensively. The results of this study can be a recommendation related to SET competence development policy by inclusive schools and government.
The aim of this study was to determine the innovation in learning and accessibility for students with disabilities in the implementation of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic at one university in Central Java. This study is a mixed methods research using a survey approach. The respondents of this research were 20 students with disabilities. The sample was taken by purposive sampling on the basis of their participation in the Study Center of Diffability (PSD). Data collection techniques in this study were conducted through questionnaires (online form) and interviews. The online questionnaire was given to 20 disabled students at one university in Central Java. Meanwhile, the interviews were conducted with one student with visual impairment and one student with hearing impairment. The questionnaire data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques, while the interview data were used as additional data to support the questionnaire data. The results of the study indicate that there are still students with disabilities who experience difficulties while attending lectures at universities due to the obstacles faced, namely the lack of development of learning approach innovations to help students with disabilities to participate in the lecture process. The research conducted can run well and is expected to be useful as an effort to improve the quality of special education services in Indonesia, especially in the implementation of inclusive education services.
