El problema evidenciado en el mercado textil, es que los consumidores se sienten atraídos por los artículos de lujo (marcas posicionadas), principalmente por el valor social y el simbolismo asociado a la marca. En este sentido, los consumidores se esfuerzan por mejorar su posición social al participar en un consumo notorio para mejorar o exagerar su posición social ante la sociedad. El objetivo del trabajo es analizar la relación entre la clase social y la tendencia conspicua de consumo para determinar el efecto de la asociación de marca según el alcance correlacional. El método utilizado fue de Sprott que evaluó la asociación de marca. La muestra de estudio fue de la provincia de Tungurahua en la edad de 26,7 años. Su percepción fue evaluada según los productos textitles de las marcas RM, Etafashion, Aeropostale. Los hallazgos demostraron que, es más probable que los individuos de clases sociales más altas se involucren en un consumo discreto, mientras que, la clase media prefiere un consumo más conspicuo (lujoso). Se concluye que, el escrito proporciona información sobre las motivaciones de los consumidores que conducen a un lujo distintivo.
