In CNC manufacture of micro components the manufactured product dimensional quality is strongly influenced by the machine tool movements accuracy. Trajectory curves and axis displacement speed values interfere in the machine positioning error. This situation is not considered in the traditional tests of a machine tool positioning accuracy performance. In this work micromilling machine performance assessment is proposed by means of monitoring and forecasting of positioning errors during a circular trajectory. Data monitored by grid encoder were used for drafting a method structured with experimental planning for monitoring and forecasting positioning errors. Trials with different feed rate and radius for a circular trajectory were carried out for assessment and validation of the method proposed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
