RESUMOA água é insumo limitante à produção vegetal e exerce papel decisivo na produção de alimentos. As culturas agrícolas exigem valor mínimo de disponibilidade hídrica, que facultará às plantas o seu bom desenvolvimento e produção. Para manutenção do estado hídrico do solo faz-se necessário o uso de tecnologia de irrigação, como sensores ou equipamentos que podem reproduzir esta condição hídrica, determinante para a escolha do momento e quantidade de água a ser fornecida. Neste ensaio, utilizou-se duas qualidades de água e diferentes lâminas de irrigação, visando simular a deficiência hídrica moderada e severa na cultura do feijoeiro em estufa agrícola. Para monitorar o teor de água no solo e também para comparar métodos de medidas, utilizou-se tensiômetros instalados nos diferentes tratamentos propostos. Paralelamente, tomou-se medidas de teor volumétrico de água, a partir do sensor modelo smrty. Para verificar o efeito da deficiência hídrica, determinou-se parâmetros biométricos como altura de planta, diâmetro do caule, número de folhas e área foliar total a partir do florescimento do feijoeiro. Os métodos de análise do teor de água no solo foram equivalentes, justificando a utilização do sensor smrt-y, em substituição ao método tensiométrico. This study presents the main changes that occur in the metabolism of corn plants submitted to water deficiency, which can directly affect the development and production of the plants. The aim of this study was to evaluate the biochemical and physiological metabolism responses in maize plants submitted to water deficiency. The experimental design was a randomized block in factorial scheme (3 × 3), being three irrigation depths and three evaluation periods with four replications. The treatments simulated two levels of water deficiency and one control: T1 (control treatment) 10-20 kPa; T2 (moderate water deficiency) 50-60 kPa, and T3 (severe water deficiency) 70-80 kPa. The evaluation periods were E1-45 days after emergence (DAE); E2-52 DAE; and E3-59 DAE. The variables analyzed were relative water content; electrolyte leakage; total soluble proteins; nitrate reductase activity; and activity of the antioxidative response system, namely superoxide dismutase, catalase, and peroxidase. The results showed that stress caused a decrease in the relative water content, reflecting changes in membrane permeability and possible induction of electrolyte losses and an increase in the activities of the enzymes of the antioxidative response system. Thus, corn plants submitted to water deficiency presented interactive responses as a strategy to mitigate the impact of stress.

Obatã e Catuaí cultivadas sob deficiência hídrica (DH). O experimento foi conduzido em estufa agrícola no período dezembro-maio de 2016-2017 no distrito de Rubião Júnior (Departamento de Química e Bioquímica do IB/UNESP), Botucatu-SP. Os tratamentos foram dispostos em delineamento em blocos casualizados em esquema fatorial 3x2 em parcelas subdivididas, com quatro repetições por tratamento. Os tratamentos aplicados foram: T1 - 100% da capacidade de campo (CC) - C = Controle, plantas bem irrigadas, T2 - 50% da CC - DHM = Deficiência hídrica moderada e T3 - 25% da CC - DHS = Deficiência hídrica severa. Aos 90, 120, 135 e 165 dias após transplantio (DAT) foram avaliados a altura de plantas, área foliar e teor de clorofilas (a e b). Verificou-se que apenas a altura das plantas e a área foliar diminuíram significativamente em função da severidade do estresse. Entre as cultivares, somente as plantas da cv. Treatments were arranged in a randomized block design in a 3x2 factorial scheme in subdivided plots, with four replications per treatment. The treatments applied were: T1 - 100% of field capacity (FC) - C = Control, well irrigated plants, T2 - 50% of FC - MWD = moderate water deficit and T3 - 25% FC - SWD = severe water deficit. Plant height, leaf area and chlorophyll content (a and b) were assessed at 90, 120, 135 and 165 days after transplanting (DAT). It was verified that only plant height and leaf area decreased significantly as function of stress severity. Among the cultivars, only cv. Obatã presented better adaptation to the effects of WD.
