L’article questionne le caractère exceptionnel souvent attribué aux contextes biotechnologiques de la parenté. Il montre que les contextes de la PMA tout comme les systèmes de parenté traditionnellement étudiés par les anthropologues insistent sur la porosité des corps à la base de la définition de l’inceste, plus petit dénominateur commun de la parenté. Outre la prise en compte des logiques corporelles, il est également question dans le texte des ancrages métaphysiques de tout système de parenté. Par ailleurs, que ce soit en contexte biotechnologique ou au sein des systèmes embryologiques étudiés traditionnellement par les anthropologues, la dramatisation d’un processus d’individuation pré linguistique fournit des clés de compréhension : l’Ego de la parenté s’inscrit dans un corps qui est lieu de relations constituantes. Cependant, pour qu’il puisse habiter le système de parenté, cet Ego doit être aussi accueilli en tant que futur « Je » du langage. L’article montre que l’entrée comme utilisateur légitime dans le langage est la condition sine qua non pour toute expérience humaine, a fortiori donc pour celle de la parenté.
Résumé L’article met en lumière la place structurante de la parenté et ses représentations dans la construction des Formes élémentaires de la vie religieuse . Dans ses travaux antérieurs sur le totémisme, Durkheim avait souligné le caractère religieux de la parenté. Dans Les Formes élémentaires , au contraire, suite aux critiques adressées à ses thèses sur la coprésence du totémisme et de l’exogamie, il sépare sociologie de la religion et sociologie de la famille. Pourtant, dans Les Formes , il dresse un système de correspondances entre personne, consubstantialité clanique et ordre cosmique qui viennent annoncer les points de vue contemporains sur la définition de la parenté. Durkheim apparaît ainsi comme un précurseur inattendu de l’anthropologie de la parenté d’aujourd’hui.
