ABSTRACT

Abstract. In tropical country likes in Indonesia, potato seeds that originated from temperate zone can only be produced in low temperature of highland. Besides this way has many limitation of productivity, it often causes soil erosion. To minimize environment destroying risk tuber seed production in lowland is a challenge. This research was done to trace that modified root zone cooling method of aerophonic system can be applied to produce high quality of tuber seeds in lowland. The First Generations (G0) of var. Atlantic and var. Granola were used as plant materials, and randomized block design (RBD) with four replications was applied in this research. Data regarding with vegetative as well as tuber production parameters were analyzed using Coefficient of variance (ANOVA) and continued with the least significant difference test (LSD; p = 5%). The results showed that aerophonic generated seeds (G0) had vigorous growth and could produce the normal G1. In term of tuber yield component and number of leaves var. Atlantic showed higher than var. Granola did. The comparison of seed weight between G0 and G1 was about 10 grams and 54 g on average, respectively. Since the size and weight of such G1 could be categorized as Large (L) in term of commercial seed market, It’s implied that the lowland modified aerophonic system could be nominated as a prospective method for producing G0 tuber seed in the future.  Potensi Bibit G0 Dari Bibit Kentang Aeroponik Di Dataran Rendah Dengan Akar Zona Pendingin Menjadi G1 Di Dataran Tinggi Abstrak. Di negara tropis seperti di Indonesia, bibit kentang yang berasal dari zona sedang hanya dapat diproduksi pada suhu rendah di dataran tinggi. Selain itu cara ini memiliki banyak keterbatasan produktivitas dan sering menyebabkan erosi tanah. Meminimalkan resiko dampak kerusakan lingkungan akibat produksi benih umbi di dataran rendah adalah sebuah tantangan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengkaji bahwa metode zona akar pendingin sistem aeroponik dapat diterapkan untuk menghasilkan benih umbi kentang kualitas tinggi di dataran rendah. Generasi Pertama (G0) dari var. Atlantik dan var. Granola digunakan sebagai bahan penelitian, dan rancangan acak kelompok dengan empat ulangan digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Data mengenai vegetatif serta parameter produksi umbi dianalisis menggunakan Koefisien varians (ANOVA) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji BNT (LSD; p = 5%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aeroponik biji yang dihasilkan (G0) memiliki pertumbuhan yang kuat dan bisa menghasilkan G1 yang normal. Dari segi produktivitas dan jumlah daun, var. Atlantic menghasilkan produktivitas yang lebih tinggi serta jumlah daun yang lebih banyak dibandingkan var. Granola. Perbandingan berat biji antara G0 dan G1 adalah rata-rata sekitar 10 gram dan 54 g untuk masing-masing generasi. Ukuran dan berat dari G1 tersebut dapat dikategorikan sebagai ukuran besar dan berpotensi komersial untuk dipasarkan. Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sistem aeroponik dataran rendah termodifikasi bisa diterapkan sebagai metode prospektif untuk memproduksi benih umbi kentang G0 di masa depan.

Purwoceng sustainability is done in order to optimize its sustainable use. Therefore it is necessary to planting Purwoceng in a controlled and planned manner. Hydroponics is one of the alternative cultivation techniques for crop production without using soil, so it can be done in areas that are difficult to cultivate. Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) is one of the hydroponic techniques of water culture. The nutrients and water are administered to the plant in a circular in a shallow layer. NFT provides proper environmental control of root areas, as well as efficient water and plant nutrients. This study aims to obtain growth and development of medicinal plants Purwoceng NFT. The study was conducted from May to July 2017. The research location of Dieng Kulon at an altitude of 2.000 m asl. The Purwoceng plant was planted with NFT technique within 5 replications. The measurement results are shown in graphical. Indicators of nutritional adequacy using EC (Electrict Conductivity) and pH. EC nutrient used is 1-1.5 mS / cm for purwoceng 1-30 HST, 1.5-2 mS / cm for plants > 30 HST, pH used 5.5-6.5. The results showed that average growth of Purwoceng plants until the age of 50 HST reaches 7-9 cm. The number of branches of Purwoceng plants up to the age of 50 HST reaches 2-4 branches. The percentage of Purwoceng plants experiencing timber in the NFT system reached 40%. Therefore it is necessary to do further research how influence duration of nutrition to growth and result of Purwoceng.

This article argues that the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) future promotion should be based on the potential users’ good understanding of sustainable agriculture. A qualitative approach was used to examine the perceptions of SRI attributes among Indonesian rice farmers, which is built upon the developing theory of diffusion of innovation. Through focus group discussions in three Indonesian provinces, compatibility, complexity, and relative advantage were identified as essential factors for SRI adoption. SRI was seen as incompatible with current farming practices, labour capacity, budget, and time available for additional labour inputs. SRI was seen as relatively complicated in terms of compost processing and application as well as mechanised agricultural technologies. As a result of the economic surplus provided by SRI rice, organised farmers may be able to obtain a higher price for SRI rice than non-organised farmers. Environmental and agronomic benefits were thought to have a long-term payoff. Such results demonstrate the subjective evaluation of SRI by farmers, which is important to its implementation.

Aeroponic potato seed production in the lowlands has been carried out by root zone cooling and evaporative cooling in order to reduce high temperature stress for the roots and tops of potato plants. However, the effect of nutrient solution EC on several varieties of potato seeds for an aeroponic system with a combination of root zone cooling and evaporative cooling for potato seed production in the lowlands has not been done. This study aims to obtain the response of potato varieties and the application of different ECs on aeroponic seed production with root zone and evaporative cooling in tropical lowlands. The factors analyzed : 1. Variety (V): V1 (MZ), V2 (Granola K), V3 (Granola L), and 2. Nutrient concentration (EC): EC1 (1.5 mS/cm for Week 1- 4, 2 mS/cm for Week 5 until harvest), and EC2 (1.5 mS/cm for Week 1-4, and 3 mS/cm for Week 5 until harvest), while the design used was RAK with 3 replications. The results showed that the Granola K and EC2 varieties are more efficient for potato seed production in the lowlands with the application of root zone and evaporative cooling. This variety produced the highest number of tubers up to 30 tubers/plant. Similarly, the Granola L and MZ varieties showed similar results with a total number of tubers above 10 tubers/plant. Keywords: Cultivation, Greenhouse, Hydroponics,  Nutrition,  Tubers

Teknik hidroponik merupakan teknik budidaya tanaman tanpa menggunakan media tanah. Budidaya tanaman ini tidak memerlukan lahan yang luas, bisa juga dilakukan di pekarangan atau di teras rumah sehingga sistem hidroponik bisa digunakan untuk mengatasi masalah kekurangan lahan. Seperti halnya perumahan-perumahan di perkotaan pada umumnya, rumah-rumah di perumahan Sapphire Regency mempunyai lahan pekarangan yang relatif sempit dan terbatas. Lahan pekarangan yang sempit menjadikan pemanfaatannya kurang maksimal. Warga perumahan juga pada umumnya belum memiliki pengetahuan tentang cara pembuatan dan instalasi hidroponik untuk tanaman sayuran. Dari permasalahan mitra tersebut, solusi yang ditawarkan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah kegiatan alih teknologi tentang pemanfaatan lahan pekarangan dan pembuatan instalasi hidroponik skala kecil (Small-Scale Hydroponics Farming System). Hasil kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa minat masyarakat sasaran sangat tinggi terhadap budidaya tanaman secara hidroponik dengan memanfaatkan halaman rumah daerah perkotaan yang tidak terlalu luas, serta pemahaman masyarakat terhadap budidaya tanaman secara hidroponik meningkat dengan adanya kegiatan penyuluhan dan alih teknologi.

Serai wangi memiliki nilai ekonomi sangat tinggi dan dapat dibudidayakan pada berbagai kondisi lahan. Lahan marginal umumnya kurang subur, kecuali setelah direhabilitasi melalui pengelolaan irigasi tepat dan pemupukan berimbang. Integrasi parameter kualitas lahan/tanah marginal yang direhabilitasi terhadap paremeter produktivitas serai wangi, yang sejauh ini belum banyak dikaji, mutlak diperlukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh variasi jadwal irigasi dan dosis pupuk organik terhadap sifat fisik tanah dan pertumbuhan serai wangi. Sebanyak 9 demplot serai wangi (luas: @9 m2, jenis tanah: Inceptisol) disiapkan untuk 2 taraf perlakuan, yaitu variasi jadwal irigasi [per hari (SI1), per 3 hari (S13), per 5 hari (SI5)] dan variasi dosis pupuk organik [15 ton/ha (PO1), 25 ton/ha (PO2), 35 ton/ha (PO3)]. Variabel yang diamati meliputi pertumbuhan serai wangi [jumlah batang (JB), tinggi tanaman (TT), jumlah daun (JD)], sifat fisik tanah [kadar air basis Volume (θ), kerapatan isi (b), permeabilitas (Ks)], serta debit irigasi dan curah hujan. Data pengamatan dianalisis secara statistik (ANOVA, α = 0.05) dan ditampikan secara grafis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jadwal irigasi dan dosis pupuk organik berpengaruh nyata terhadap JB, TT, dan JD serai wangi dengan nilai optimal masing-masing terdapat pada SI3PO3 (20.17 batang), SI1PO3 (137.83 cm), dan SI3PO3 (92.25 helai). Dilihat dari sifat fisik tanah, hanya dosis pupuk organik yang berpengaruh nyata, terutama terhadap θ, dengan nilai optimal terdapat pada PO2 (0.380 cm3/cm3). Kombinasi jadwal irigasi per-3-hari (SI3) dan dosis pupuk organik 35 ton/ha (PO3) sangat potensial untuk diaplikasikan pada budidaya serai wangi di lahan marginal.
