Bleaching is the tooth whitening by applying chemical materials oxidizing the organic tooth pigmentation and creating smaller and lighter molecules. Commonly used in the tooth bleaching is hydrogen peroxide. Strawberry and apple contain hydrogen peroxide and ellagic acid which will bond with an unsaturated bond of the tooth pigmentation. The purpose of this research was to finding out and measuring the tooth whitening level and effectivity between the strawberry and apple juice. The type of this research was a true experimental (in-vitro), using 30 samples of maxillary premolars with cutted radicular until the CEJ. Samples were divided into 3 groups (immersed in strawberry juice; apple juice; and mineral water); with three times daily immersion in one week. The tooth colour level was measured using a spectrophotometer. Data were analyzed using the one-way ANOVA and LSD test. The results showed significant differences among all groups. Normality test showed the variance between homogenous groups, with the p-value of 0.198 (p ≥ 0.05). The one-way ANOVA test results showed a significance value (0.000), indicated a significant degree of the tooth whitening level between all groups. The LSD test results showed that the tooth whitening level in group I (immersed in strawberry juice) was significantly different to group II (immersed in apple juice) and group III (immersed in mineral water), with a significance value of 0.01 and 0.00 ( p ≤ 0.05). The tooth whitening level in group II was significantly different from group III, with a significance value of 0.03 (p ≤ 0.05). There were differences in the tooth whitening level between immersion in strawberry juice, apple juice, and mineral water, with the most effective tooth whitening level found in the strawberry juice immersion.
Canal wall preparation achieved by smoothness. Objective of this study was to determine smoothness differences of nickel titanium manual instruments compared with nickel titanium rotary instruments in apical third region canal wall. This study was a quasi experimental research conducted by in vitro method on 30 single rooted upper permanent incisive that have been extracted. They were randomly divided into two group (n=15) and each group root canal teeth were cleaned and shaped with manual rotary nickel titanium instruments. Roughness analyzed used with Mitutoyo roughness surface instruments. Every sample analyzed in apical third region canal wall. Data have been analyzed with t test. The result of study showed that different smoothness for every sample after preparation by manual and rotary. In conclusion, from this study showed those instrumentations with rotary nickel titanium will give the best smoothness than manual nickel titanium instruments.
Introduction: Overhanging approximal restoration may causes gingival inflammation, periodontal tissue destruction, decreases alveolar bone height, and caries reccurence. Overhanging restoration can be detected clinically and by radiography image. Overhang restorations can occur due to the poor filling procedures, one of which is the limitation of supporting tools. Restoration of teeth done in Puskesmas often found unavailability constraints supporting tools so that in cases of approximal caries often experience overhang. The aim of this study was to evaluate the incidence of overhanging proximal restoration at Tarogong Public Health Centre in Garut Regency West Java Indonesia. Methods: This study was a descriptive cross sectional for the incidence on patient with overhanging approximal restoration who visited at Dental Unit Tarogong Public Health Center in Garut Regency. Intraoral clinical examination was conducted to examine visually and by tactile for the overhang restoration. Periapical radiography examination was taken and became supporting examination. Results: Collected data were 43 cases of overhanging approximal restoration from total 57 patients. The incidence of overhanging approximal restoration were 75,4. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study by radiography was the incidence of overhanging restoration was 75.4 which showed that overhanging restoration approksimal more than good restoration aproksimal at Tarogong Public Health Centre in Garut Regency West Java Indonesia.
Root canal treatment diagnoses as pulpitis irreversible can be treated in a non-vital condition with devitalization material. Arsenic is one of devitalization material that used in inflammatory pulp tissue before it is going to endodontic treatment. The long-term use of it or the leak of using this arsenic can cause the toxic effect of the pulp tissue. The case is going to report is about the damage of gingival tissue and alveolar that caused by the uncarefullness using of arsenic. Inappropriate arsenic applications cause the leak that able to spread to gingival tissue and will become necrosis. Now a day, the using of arsenic begin to leave because of the toxicity sad effect. This report is going to report how much the damage using arsenic trioxide (As2O3) and the effort from the leakness.
Teeth with is treated with endodontic treatment has own problems, tends to be weaker because of dentin removal and reduced moisture content, so, requires post and crown restoration treatment. The principle of making restoration should be to restore function, esthetic, and to distribute chewing load, so, both teeth and its crown can be used in a long time in oral cavity. This case report described about 23-year-old female patient with a history of truma motor vehicle accident. Tooth 11,12,21 was fractured 2/3 crown with pulp exposed. The diagnosis which estabilished for this case is irreversible pulpitis and the treatment planning are one visit root canal treatment, post and fiber insertion and porcelain fused to metal restoration. On the first visit, acces preparation with crown down technique was done and rootcanals filled with gutta percha and sealer AH 26 with lateral condensation technique. Fiber post was insertion in next visit and cementation with dual-cured resin. Core was made in resin composite and porcelain fused to metal was inserted after control of patient condition in 1 week. One of those methods that used in this case is prefabricated glass fiber post, because of its biocompatibility, more aesthetic, has a modulus of elasticity which is resemble with dentine. Pressure that its transmitted by post to dentin is low, so, this is minimize a root fractured. The result of this treatment and the restoration was good, there were no patient complaints, and normal gingival seemed around the teeth. Restoration post endodontic treatment can be done with several techniques, one is post and porcelain fused to metal to produce a good restoration.
