ResumenEl Plan Nacional de Respuesta ante la Infección del VIH/Sida en Colombia hace hincapié en fomentar conocimientos, actitudes, comportamientos y prácticas para el desarrollo de una sexualidad autónoma, responsable y placentera. Objetivo: Identificar comportamientos de riesgo para la trasmisión del VIH/sida en adolescentes y jóve-nes de las universidades privadas del municipio de Villavicencio. Método: Estudio descriptivo. Diseño de muestreo probabilístico multietápico. Población: 10.324 estudiantes-IP 2014 (n = 357). Error: 1 %; nivel de confianza: 95 %. Se utilizó la encuesta Conocimientos, prácticas y asesoría en prueba voluntaria para VIH en jóvenes de 15 a 24 años, y la información se procesó con el programa SPSS v. 14. Resultados: El 95 % de los estudiantes tiene conocimientos sobre el VIH/sida. La principal fuente de información son los programas de televisión (28,6 %). Para el 51,6 % su primera relación sexual ocurrió antes de los 16 años de edad; para el 32,5 %, entre 17 y 19 años. El 31,9 % no utilizó condón en la primera relación sexual. El 86,6 % considera que el sida se puede prevenir usando condón. De los encuestados, han tenido una pareja sexual en el último año, el 35,5 %; entre 2 y 4 parejas sexuales, el 37,2 %; más de 5, el 13,4 %. El 31,1 % no utilizó condón en su última relación. Conclusiones: El estudio indica que las prácticas sexuales de riesgo de la población estudiada es el inicio temprano de las relaciones sexuales, hay un predominio significativo de no uso de condón, a pesar de identificarlo como una forma de prevención de la infección por VIH. Es importante desarrollar estrategias educativas para la promoción de la salud en contexto universitario que fomenten estilos de vida saludables. Introducción: Ingresar a un familiar en una unidad de cuidados intensivos (UCI) es una experiencia abrumadora para la familia, reconocida como esencial en la salud del paciente. El cuidador, como miembro significativo de la familia, se expone también a situaciones angustiantes que le generan necesidades que se deben identificar para promover su bienestar y calidad de vida. Objetivos: Describir las necesidades del cuidador familiar de pacientes adultos crónicos hospitalizados en UCI en una institución prestadora de salud privada en Villavicencio, Colombia. Material y métodos: Estudio descriptivo, de corte transversal y de tipo cuantitativo. Se utilizó el instrumento Critical Care Family Needs Inventory (CCFNI), de Nancy Molter y Jane Leske, que valora el grado de importancia que los familiares les otorgan a las necesidades de apoyo, comodidad, información, proximidad y seguridad cuando tienen a un familiar ingresado en la UCI. Se entrevistaron cuidadores familiares (n = 37) durante un trimestre y se procesó la información en SPSS versión 14. Resultados: La necesidad considerada más importante es la de seguridad, con el 86 %; seguida de la de información, con el 82 %, y de proximidad, con un 78 %. Conclusiones: Para enfermería, las necesidades sentidas por los cuidadores familiares de adultos en condición de cronicidad hospitalizados en una UCI son base para ofrecer cuidado integral y hacer de la experiencia en UCI momentos menos desalentadores.
Objetivo: Caracterizar las condiciones sociales, demográficas y la funcionalidad de los adultos mayores de los Centros Vida (CV) de la ciudad de Villavicencio. Materiales y métodos: Estudio descriptivo, cuantitativo, muestreo no probabilístico discrecional, donde se obtuvo un n=635; los instrumentos usados fueron la escala de Barthel y el instrumento de Lawton y Brody. Para identificar las variables sociodemográficas, el instrumento fue elaborado por las autoras. El procesamiento y análisis se realizó en el programa SPSS® versión 20. Resultados: El 47,4 % son hombres y el 52,6 % son mujeres con edades entre los 60 y 100 años, con una edad mediana de 73 años. Respecto a la valoración de las actividades básicas de la vida diaria, el 59,4 % de los adultos mayores son independientes. Por otro lado, para las actividades instrumentadas de la vida diaria, se tiene que el 67,6 % de los adultos mayores presenta una valoración de independiente. Conclusión: Los adultos mayores adscritos a los Centros Vida de la ciudad de Villavicencio son, en general, adultos mayores funcionales; sin embargo, existe un grupo importante con factores de riesgo, lo que indica que se deben implementar estrategias de prevención de dependencia y promoción de envejecimiento exitoso.
Introducción: En la actualidad, el envejecimiento de la población despierta interés, debido al aumento de la esperanza de vida. Objetivo: Conocer el entorno familiar de los adultos mayores de los Centros Vida (CV) del municipio de Villavicencio, con el propósito de construir, a partir de los resultados, elementos orientadores para la formación de cuidadores profesionales y el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida del adulto mayor. Método: Perspectiva cualitativa con enfoque etnográfico. Se incluyeron tres CV seleccionados al azar; de cada CV participó un cuidador y un adulto mayor con su familia. Se utilizó observación no participante y entrevista abierta. En total, se realizaron nueve entrevistas que fueron transcritas y convertidas en unidades textuales, con el apoyo del software N-vivo 11. El análisis fue simultáneo con el trabajo de campo. Se realizó codificación y categorización. Resultados: Se identificaron tres categorías: 1) entre la aceptación o la resignación de ser un adulto mayor, 2) los menesteres de la vejez y 3) las relaciones de la familia cuando se tiene un adulto mayor. Conclusión: Para los adultos mayores el envejecimiento es una etapa de pérdida, abandono y sufrimiento. Para la familia, es una etapa muy difícil cuando no se tiene condiciones socioeconómicas suficientes, se requiere apoyo y aceptación de los cambios producidos en el adulto mayor. Para los cuidadores de los CV es una etapa que requiere mucho apoyo de la familia y la sociedad.
