O artigo apresenta, como objeto de estudo, a variação das vogais pretônicas em assentos de casamentos do século XVIII, com o objetivo de analisar a variação das vogais pretônicas através dos processos fonológicos (alçamento e abaixamento) e por variações ortográficas e etimológicas com o intuito de observar de qual maneira esses processos se desencadeavam nos livros de registros paroquiais da Freguesia de Santo Antônio do Urubu de baixo do sertão do São Francisco. Embasando-nos na Linguística Histórica – sob um viés filológico – em diálogo com a Fonologia, analisamos a relação existente entre a fonte documental e os manuais ortográficos dos períodos pretéritos. Considerando a hipótese inicial de que os scriptores seguiam a tradição documental para exarar os assentos de casamentos, embora fossem influenciados pela oralidade, reflexo do contexto sócio-histórico em que o manuscrito foi produzido, buscamos responder o seguinte questionamento: as variações gráficas das vogais pretônicas revelam indícios da oralidade, nos assentos de casamentos, refletindo o conflito entre os períodos ortográficos da língua portuguesa? Esperamos, com este trabalho, contribuir com os estudos linguísticos que remontam ao português brasileiro, sobretudo no sertão do Rio São Francisco.
O blend é um fenômeno morfológico que engloba a junção entre duas bases, como em matel (mato + matel). É, também, considerado bastante contextual e efêmero na língua. Partindo do argumento de Silva (2019) de que o blend surge a partir da experiência cotidiana do falante, questionamo-nos: o conhecimento e o uso dos blends estão associados à faixa etária? Nossa hipótese é de que o conhecimento está associado à capacidade de decomposição semântica dos blends. Somente o uso está associado à faixa etária. Assim, objetivamos investigar qual faixa etária conhece e faz uso de blends com maior frequência. Para isso, elaboramos um formulário eletrônico que foi respondido por pessoas de quatro faixas etárias: (I) até 25 anos; (II) entre 26 e 35 anos; (III) entre 36 e 45 anos; e (IV) acima de 45 anos. Por fim, obtivemos um total de 405 respostas e observamos que, em nossa amostra, os blends foram mais conhecidos e declaradamente usados por juízes, os participantes da pesquisa, da faixa I, seguidos pelos da faixa II.
O presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a formação de palavras pela sobreposição de duas bases, conhecida como portmanteau, bem como a aplicação do fenômeno fonológico da haplologia nessa junção das bases, sob a hipótese de uma atuação do balanceamento de sílabas entre essas bases. Utilizamos a teoria morfofonológica item e arranjo que consiste na análise dos constituintes da palavra formada. Por meio das análises, há uma tendência de eliminação de sílaba, na formação de palavras por portmanteau, para haver uma balanceamento do número de sílabas das bases envolvidas na nova palavra formada, como pode-se verificar na palavra chafé, combinação de chá + café. A eliminação da sílaba [ka] da base café, tornando-a monossílaba como a outra base envolvida no processo chá, ocasiona um balanceamento do número de sílabas das bases formadoras de novas palavras, ou seja, ambas ficam com uma sílaba. Evidencia-se, portanto, que regras fonológicas de balanceamento de número de sílabas e haplologia ocorrem nos processos de formação de palavras como o portmanteau.
No português, como em qualquer língua natural, os processos fonológicos são comuns nas operações morfológicas de formação de palavra. Nesse estudo, mostraremos como o fenômeno da haplologia– desaparecimento de segmentos ou sílabas contíguas semelhantes ou idênticos – é bastante comum em processos de composição com perda de material fonético, portmanteau – sobreposição entre duas bases, como em sacolé (saco + picolé). Essa sobreposição oferece possiblidade para ocorrência da haplologia: a sílaba [ko] em ambas bases, que se funde a partir desta amalgamação. Diante disso, nos questionamos: qual o funcionamento da haplologia no processo de formação de palavras do português atual, ou seja, na formação das palavras recentemente criadas? Procuramos compreender as motivações do desaparecimento do material fonético, analisando as suas motivações fonológicas, bem como a natureza desse desaparecimento: se fusão, ou seja, eliminação parcial; ou apagamento, eliminação efetiva. Nossa hipótese é de que no Português Brasileiro (PB), a haplologia poderá ser tanto do tipo fusão ou apagamento. Um outro caso será determinado pelo número de sílabas das bases envolvidas na formação do composto. Para análise, descrevemos o processo do portmanteau com aplicação da haplologia por meio da Teoria da Otimidade (PRINCE; SMOLENSKY, 1993) para analisar os dados e da Teoria da Correspondência (MCCARTHY; PRINCE, 1995) para compreender melhor a interface entre a Morfologia e a Fonologia. Além disso, investigamos qual o nível de aceitabilidade da haplologia em palavras reais e logatomas e verificamos a produtividade da haplologia em processo de formação de palavras em situações experimentais por meio da percepção. Constatamos, a partir da OT que o balanceamento silábico entre as bases denota uma prevalência em processo como portmanteau, ainda ocorra a aplicação da haplologia e o fenômeno fonológico pode ser compreendido sob duas naturezas: de fusão ou de apagamento. Além disso, os experimentos indiciaram que a aplicação da haplologia no processo tem um alto índice de aceitabilidade pelos falantes e que será o balanceamento de sílabas que irá prevalecer na contiguidade de segmentos ou sílabas iguais.
