O presente trabalho teve como objetivo efetuar um levantamento sobre as classificações ecológicas de espécie arbóreas. Uma breve abordagem foi sintetizada sobre o processo de dinâmica sucessional em floresta tropical e dos principais elementos que caracterizam esse processo. Também foi mostrado a existência da grande diversidade de classificações das espécies em grupos ecológicos.

O presente trabalho teve como objetivo conhecer e analisar a composição florística e descrever a estrutura do componente arbóreo de um fragmento de Floresta Ombrófila Mista Montana, localizado no município de Criúva, RS. Em oito parcelas de 10 x 100 m foram inventariados 673 indivíduos com DAP  5 cm, distribuídos em 37 espécies, pertencentes a 32 gêneros e 22 famílias. O valor do índice de diversidade de Shannon foi de 2,768. As famílias que apresentaram maior número de indivíduos amostrados são: Araucariaceae, Myrsinaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Anacardiaceae e Rutaceae. O dossel dessa floresta é dominado pela Araucaria angustifolia e o sub-bosque por espécies das famílias Lauraceae e Myrtaceae. A densidade total encontrada foi de 841,25 indivíduos/ha, com DAP médio de 24,01 cm e altura média de 9,34 m. As cinco espécies que tiveram os maiores valores de importância, em ordem decrescente, foram: Araucaria angustifolia, Sebastiania commersoniana, Lithraea brasiliensis, Zanthoxylum rhoifolium e Myrcia sp.. O fragmento apresenta uma considerável diversidade florística de espécies, apesar das perturbações sofridas no passado. Para que a vegetação atinja as características florísticas e estruturais próximas às da vegetação original é preciso evitar a presença de bovinos e eqüinos na área e explorações da floresta.

Accurate forest inventory is of great economic importance to optimize the entire supply chain management in pulp and paper companies. The aim of this study was to estimate stand dominate and mean heights (HD and HM) and tree density (TD) of Pinus taeda plantations located in South Brazil using in-situ measurements, airborne Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data and the non-k-nearest neighbor (k-NN) imputation. Forest inventory attributes and LiDAR derived metrics were calculated at 53 regular sample plots and we used imputation models to retrieve the forest attributes at plot and landscape-levels. The best LiDAR-derived metrics to predict HD, HM and TD were H99TH, HSD, SKE and HMIN. The Imputation model using the selected metrics was more effective for retrieving height than tree density. The model coefficients of determination (adj.R 2) and a root mean squared difference (RMSD) for HD, HM and TD were 0.90, 0.94, 0.38m and 6.99, 5.70, 12.92%, respectively. Our results show that LiDAR and k-NN imputation can be used to predict stand heights with high accuracy in Pinus taeda. However, furthers studies need to be realized to improve the accuracy prediction of TD and to evaluate and compare the cost of acquisition and processing of LiDAR data against the conventional inventory procedures.

A presente pesquisa objetivou a caracterização dos efeitos da altitude sobre o crescimento do Palmiteiro (Euterpe edulis). Para tanto foram definidas dez unidades amostrais ao longo de um gradiente de altitude, distribuídas sistematicamente com intervalos de 500 metros em um morro na formação Rio das Cobras com um raio com de aproximadamente 1500 m de extensão e com uma variação de 500 m na altitude. Para avaliação do Palmiteiro no gradiente altimétrico foram abatidos oito indivíduos de cada nível altimétrico, dos quais foram coletados os dados de biomassa total e a biomassa do creme comestível. Quando comparados os resultados encontrou-se tendências entre a produção de biomassa total e do creme em relação ao gradiente altitudinal. O SIG foi construído para retornar os valores de biomassa total e do creme e a densidade dos indivíduos na área, o que proporcionara informações para o planejamento florestal. QUANTIFICATION AND EVALUATION OF QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE PARAMETERS OF PALMITEIRO (Euterpe edulis MARTIUS) ALONG OF A ALTIMETRIC GRADIENT UISNG GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM. Abstract The present research aimed the characterization of effects of altitude on growth of Palmiteiro (Euterpe edulis). It was defined ten sample plots, systematically distributed with 500m intervals, covering all gradient in the mound belongs to formation called Rio das Cobras with 500 m altitude. For the evaluation of the Palm in the studied area it was cut eight trees in each established level of altitude. The collected data were total biomass and biomass of eatable part. When compared the results it was find tendency between total biomass production and eatable part in relation to altitude gradient. The GIS was construct to find the values of total biomass and eatable part and the tree’s density in the area . The GIS will give important information to the forest management.

The aim of this paper was to know, analyze and describe the floristic composition of the shrub and tree component and the structure of a Montane Mixed Ombrophylous Forest Fragment, used for bovines pasturage, in the municipal district of Criúva - RS. It was inventoried 533 individuous in seven 10 x 100 m plots with DBH³ 10 em, distributed in 38 species from 33 gender and 20 families. The families wich presented the widest number of individuous were: Myrtaceae (33,0 %), Euphorbiaceae (19,7 %) e Araucariaceae (17,4 %). The total density found was 761,4 individuous/ha, and the medium DBH is 22,9 em and the higest 9,7 m. The part of the forest investigated is characterized by the lack of understorey, probably caused by intense presence of cattle, damaging especially plants of minor height and diameter. This fact might explain the lack of individuais to occupy the gaps caused by the removal of dominant trees out of the forest.
