Li 2Ca2Si2O7: Structural, Spectroscopic and Computational Studies on a Sorosilicate. -Single crystals of the title compound are prepared from stoichiometric mixtures of Li 2CO3, CaCO3, and SiO2 (Pt crucible, 900 C, 12 h). Li2Ca2Si2O7 crystallizes in the hexagonal space group P6122 with Z = 6 (single crystal XRD) and belongs to the group of pyrosilicates containing [Si 2O7] groups. Lithium and calcium cations are incorporated between the silicate dimers and are coordinated by four and six nearest oxygen neighbors, respectively. The compound is further characterized by Raman spectroscopy and DFT calculations. -(KAHLENBERG*, V.; BRUNELLO, E.; HEJNY, C.; KRUEGER, H.; SCHMIDMAIR, D.; TRIBUS, M.; TOEBBENS, D. M.; J.
