O câncer do colo do útero (câncer cervical) é um tumor que ocorre a partir de alterações no colo do útero, sendo causado pela infecção persistente por alguns tipos de HPV, considerada a infecção sexualmente transmissível de maior incidência e prevalência no mundo que afeta milhões de mulheres. O objetivo principal do artigo é apresentar os aspectos relacionados ao tratamento do câncer do colo do útero no contexto do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Foi realizado um estudo de revisão sistemática baseada nos critérios do método PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses). A busca foi realizada por meio de bibliotecas virtuais como Scielo e Portal Regional da BVS. Além disso, documentos e diretrizes do INCA. Através dos processos e critérios de elegibilidade dos estudos foi possível selecionar 12 artigos para composição e apresentação sistemática dos resultados. Os estudos mostraram que o processo de diagnóstico e tratamento do CCU no SUS apresentaram, inúmeros problemas como rastreamento ineficaz, erros na coleta de exame de prevenção, erros na leitura dos resultados, dificuldade de acesso ao tratamento (principalmente pelas mulheres com baixo nível socioeconômico), atrasos no tratamento e fragmentação dos serviços. Conclui-se que o Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) apesar de disponibilizar de forma gratuita toda a linha de cuidado do câncer de colo de útero, ainda possui barreiras e desafios quanto ao acesso ao tratamento em tempo adequado e eficaz, necessitando assim de estratégias eficazes para o processo de rastreamento e tratamento do CCU.
