Objetivo. Relata el estudio que analisó las revistas científicas brasileñas de Química indexadas en Scopus, en relación a sus características y a la internacionalización. Se caracterizaron las revistas del corpus de investigación (sección que publican, periodicidad, idiomas aceptados para la publicación, periodicidad, media de artículos por edición, SJR y fator de impacto, indexación en otras bases de datos), constituido por 8 títulos. Se describió la evaluación Qualis de los periódicos en sus áreas comprendidas; se verificó la existencia de coautoria en los artículos analizados estableciéndose una comparativa en el siglo XX y, se caracterizó a los autores que publicaron trabajos el año 2014, en función de sus países de origen y de los idiomas en que fueron publicados los artículos analizados.Método. La recolección de datos fue realizada con la consulta las páginas de las revistas y a las webs Plataforma Lattes, Plataforma Sucupira, SCImago Journal & Country Rank, y JCR. Para el análisis de los datos de los autores se contó con el auxilio del software estadístico “R” con el propósito de examinar la frecuencia de los datos.Resultados. 75% de los títulos poseen indexación en bases de datos a texto completo o referenciais de la Scopus y, hay el predomínio de colaboración científica doméstica (desarrollada por autores de un mismo país).

Para a realização deste estudo buscou-se identificar tais publicações; verificar as IES editoras e as regiões das publicações localizadas; e levantar aspectos essenciais dos periódicos, sendo eles: idioma, periodicidade, tipo de acesso, área do conhecimento, classificação Qualis-CAPES e plataforma editorial. A coleta dos dados foi realizada nas páginas Web dos periódicos, no Diretório UlrichsWeb e no site do Sistema de Regulação do Ensino Superior (e-MEC) do Ministério da Educação no Brasil. Foram identificados 140 títulos indexados na WoS e ou Scopus. Os dados apontam as universidades como IES responsáveis pela maioria das revistas e que as regiões que comportam a maior parte dessas publicações são as sudeste e sul do Brasil. A pesquisa detecta a condição de acesso aberto dos títulos, constata que as plataformas editoriais de maior uso são o Sistema Eletrônico de Editoração de Revistas/Open Journal Systems e SciELO, e que as áreas do conhecimento predominantes são as de Ciências Sociais (26 títulos), Ciências Agrárias e Biológicas (25 títulos) e Medicina (15 títulos). Em relação aos idiomas admitidos para publicação, o português, espanhol e inglês formam a combinação mais utilizada.Palavras-chave: Comunicação científica. Periódicos científicos brasileiros. O presente artigo apresenta resultados e análises concebidos a partir da proposição de analisar estatisticamente fatores que contribuem para a visibilidade dos periódicos científicos do Brasil indexados na Web of Science e Scopus. Para tanto, o estudo desses títulos buscou descrever os resultados obtidos pelos periódicos nos indicadores bibliométricos Scimago Journal Rank (SJR), índice h, total de citações e a produção bibliográfica assinalada pelos títulos; relatar aspectos do perfil dos periódicos (entidade editora, área do conhecimento e idiomas aceitos para publicação); e relacionar os indicadores bibliométricos aos aspectos de perfil abordados. O software R foi empregado como instrumento para análises dos dados. Os resultados demonstram que os valores das medianas apresentam correlações fortes (a partir de 0,79) entre os fatores índice h, SRJ, totais de citações e de documentos; o idioma mais aceito para publicações é o inglês.; a periodicidade mensal é a que apresenta maiores resultados em confronto com as variáveis quantitativas; o índice h médio é de 8,28 com variação entre 0 e 56; a média do SJR é de 0,24 com oscilação de 0 a 0,92. o total de citações médio é de 130,6 movendo-se de 0 a 1415.
