In this study, while the definition of informal education, which displays the main features of lifelong learning, is made, it is also attempted to identify the contributions of the local newspapers, through which the society can reach its own unique and necessary information, to the lifelong learning of their readers. In the research, within this scope, it was aimed to evaluate the contributions of local newspapers to lifelong learning according to the opinions of the local newspaper readers in Bartın Province in Turkey. Among the mixed research patterns, converging parallel pattern was used in the research. The screening model was used in the quantitative research phase, and the phenomenological pattern was used in the qualitative research phase. As a result of the research, according to the opinions of the readers, about the contributions of local newspapers to lifelong learning were found to be significantly different to gender, educational status, title and institution, local newspaper reading frequency and duration variables .In the study, it was concluded that the local newspapers were able to contribute to their readers' lifelong learning through the availability of limited opportunities and access to public institutions and employees, even at the point of insufficient education, health, environment, socio-cultural life, employment and labor news. To make more news in local newspapers on education, health, socio-cultural, environment and labor market and employment may contribute to lifelong learning.
ÖzBu araştırmanın amacı; Bartın İlinde günlük olarak çıkarılan yerel gazetelerdeki, okurlarının yaşam boyu öğrenmelerine katkı sağlayabilecek eğitim, sosyo-kültürel, çevre, sağlık, iş gücü piyasası ve istihdam haberlerinin yayımlanma sıklığını tespit etmektir. Araştırmada Bartın İlindeki günlük yerel gazetelerde sağlık, eğitim, sosyo-kültürel, çevre, iş gücü piyasası ve istihdam haberlerinin yayımlanma sıklığı içerik analizi teknikleri içerisinde yer alan frekans analizi yöntemiyle taranmıştır. Sosyo-kültürel, çevre ve sağlık ile ilgili haberlerin incelenen beş gazete içerisindeki yayımlanma sıklığının birbirine yakın olduğu ancak, eğitim haberlerinin dönemsel etkiler sebebiyle yayımlanma sıklığının farklı olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca iş gücü piyasası ve istihdam haberlerinin ise tüm gazeteler içerisinde en düşük yayımlanma sıklığına sahip olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Yerel gazetelerdeki eğitim, sağlık, sosyo-kültürel, çevre, istihdam ve iş gücü piyasası haberleri daha fazla sıklıkla yayımlanarak okurlarına ulaştırılabilir. Okurunun yaşam boyu öğrenmesine katkıda bulunabilecek haberlerin, kendi kategorilerinde yetkin ve uzman kişilerle işbirliği sağlanarak daha derinlemesine ve doğru olarak yerel gazetede yer alması önerilebilir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Yaşam Boyu Öğrenme, Yerel Gazeteler, Eğitim. AbstractThe purpose of this research; It is to determine the frequency of publication of education, socio-cultural, environment, health, labor market and employment news which can contribute to the lifelong learning of readers in daily local newspapers published in Bartın province. The frequency of publication of health, education, socio-cultural, environment, labor market and employment news in the daily local newspapers in Bartın was scanned by frequency analysis method included in content analysis techniques. Socio-cultural, environmental and health news were found to be close to each other in the five newspapers examined, but it was found that the frequency of publication was different due to the seasonal effects of educational news. In addition, the labor market and employment news had the lowest publication frequency among all the newspapers. News in the local newspapers on education, health, sociocultural, environment, employment and labor market can be published more frequently and delivered to their readers. The news that may contribute to the lifelong learning of the reader can be suggested to take place in the local newspaper in a deeper and more accurate manner by cooperating with experts in their own categories.
