This descriptive, cross-sectional, correlational study with a convenience sample of 96 women treated for breast cancer at an outpatient service in Brazil was designed to investigate post-lymphadenectomy complications after axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) and sentinel lymph node biopsy and explore the associative relationships between the complications and quality of life. Clinical evaluations using perimetry, goniometry, and muscle strength test were used to evaluate the complications. Pain and quality of life were assessed by the Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire and the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast. All participants had at least one complication. Incidence was higher for pain (57%), impaired shoulder strength (57%), and fibrosis (54%), followed by impaired shoulder range of motion (46%) and lymphedema (17%). The incidence of impaired shoulder flexion (P = .01) and lymphedema (P = .002) was higher in ALND group. Winged scapula (8.4%) only occurred in the ALND group. Quality of life was significantly correlated with pain (r = -0.53, P = .000) and impaired shoulder strength in flexion (r = 0.4; P = .000) and abduction (r = -0.5, P = .000). Future studies are needed to prospectively investigate the onset of the complications and identify appropriate interventions to promote quality of life in women treated for breast cancer.
Objective to investigate the factors affecting the adequate continuous use of
intermittent catheterization and its relation with social support. Method sectional, descriptive and correlational study involving 49 patients with
neuropathic bladder caused by spinal cord injury. Results almost all (92%) participants continued the intermittent catheterization,
but 46.9% made some changes in the technique. The complications (28.6% of
the sample) were mainly infection and vesicolithiasis. There were high
scores for social support in relation to people that were part of the
patient's social support. Conclusion All of them noticed great support from the family, but not from the society
in general. The difficulties were related to the lack of equipment and
inadequate infrastructure, leading to changes that increased urologic
complications.
The study was aimed at reporting a case of a patient who developed Hand-Foot Syndrome (HFS) grade 3 due the use of capecitabine and for which massage was used with aqueous-based moisturizer, aloe vera. The patient's functional capacity was assessed using the ECOG Performance Scale and the lesions were photographed during nursing appointment that occurred at intervals of ten days, totaling forty days of monitoring. There was significant improvement in tissue integrity, with total regression of symptoms, an important gain in quality of life, and immediate return to chemotherapy. It is believed that aloe vera can be an important component in nursing care in patients undergoing cancer chemotherapy.

Internal consistency and construct validity were examined, and the psychometric properties of the translated instrument were good. The translated SSNI was easily understood by the respondents and did not present difficulty during the interviews. The Portuguese version of the SSNI is a valid instrument to assess social support among Portuguese-speaking patients.
DIFFICULTIES FACED BY THE CAREGIVER, IN SCHOOL INSERTION OF CEREBRAL PALSY CHILDREN ABSTRACT:The insertion of disabled children in regular schools has been a challenge. The parents do not feel secure to have their children in regular schools and many schools do not feel prepared to work with the student who have special needs. Caregivers, in general, recognize the importance of school education in their child's development, but show unconfident as they become aware of the unpreparedness of the regular school to receive their child. As we consider this background and recognize the caregivers as important support for school insertion, we propose this study to investigate factors perceived by the caregivers, which hinder the inclusion of disabled children in the regular school. This is a quantitative descriptive study. Results reveal that the most difficult factors for the insertion of exceptional children in regular schools are lack of teachers' qualification, school unpreparedness and lack of a support assistant.
