Herman Melville’s novel Moby Dick addresses the eternal problem of life and death, the human personality and its place in the universe. It is an exceptional piece of work about the tragic tension of the worldview, the sharpness of the material presented in it, and the most important role in this is played by antonymous linguistic means. The authors of the article present a comparative analysis of the linguistic means of the original text of the parable novel and its Russian translation with respect to the use of antonyms. The material of the article makes it possible to realize the role of the translator I. Bernstein in transposition of verbalizers of art values of the American literature on Russian soil, reveals its creative individuality and professionalism. Understanding the functional and stylistic importance of the antonymous component of the novel, in his translation I. Bernstein retains the most important in terms of content and style of this work a pair of lexical antonyms of the contradicting type: “Light — Darkness”, “Black — White”, “Tall — Short”, “God — Devil”, “Life — Death”. Contextual antonyms, word-forming antonymous pairs, metaphors based on antonyms available in the original text also have equivalents in the Russian version. Comparative analysis of the original text and the Russian version clearly shows that I. Bernstein’s translation is equivalent and adequate. The stylistic peculiarities of G. Melville’s novel “Moby Dick”, connected with the use of antonymic possibilities and conditioned by contradictory philosophical problems solved in the work, are preserved in the Russian version of the novel.
The article examines the expression of subjectlessness in « Solitary Thoughts» by V.V. Rozanov, a work of an innovative language and genre form. The genre peculiarities of the work determine a significant number of one-part sentences that are used by the writer in the traditional language function. At the same time, the author's style is most characterized by the combination of different types of these sentences in one paragraph. A very important function of these structures in the text is the stylistic function. The reception of anaphora is based on one-part sentences; expressive antonymy in their structure; on the basis of these constructions, a rhetorical question and a language game are built; an original and unexpected metaphor; examples of the author's word creation are also noted on the basis of one-part structures. This type of sentences is also used to create an ironic effect. The methods of using one-piece structures reflect the uniqueness and originality of the artistic world of V.V. Rozanov. Subjectlessness acts as a means of expressing the intimate author's principle, deep personal experience, which has a mystical, metaphysical nature of «truly Russian, Russian element». On the basis of the explication of the leading compositional-speech dominants and the specifics of their linguistic embodiment at the syntactic level of the language, innovative fiction is represented in the work. This allows us to consider the work of V.V. Rozanov as a high example, which reflected the richest intellectual and emotional world of the author himself.
The article examines the place of the word-formation component of the communicative competence of foreign students in the process of their learning Russian as a foreign language. The word-formation component, along with other linguistic components, participates in the formation of the communicative competence of foreign students, however, the problem of Russian word formation remains insufficiently developed in the linguodidactic plan. The author expresses his opinion that the increase in the vocabulary of foreign students should be accompanied by the systematization of lexical units, taking into account their derivational connections and relations. Therefore, when lexicalization, one should use not the selection of synonyms or the descriptive method, which leads to the mechanical memorization of the meaning, but by means of correlation with the same root words, to activate in the minds of foreign students the living connections of the lexical units of the Russian language. This applies not only to derivatives of words associated with generating relations of full direct motivation, but also to those derivatives where these connections are not explicitly expressed. Such an interpretation through a productive word not only makes the meaning of the new lexeme understandable, facilitates its memorization, but also creates a single picture of lexical and word-formation relationships within the language, forms a systemic understanding of the language among students. The skills of correlating a derivative word with its derivative, obtained in the study of Russian as a foreign language, make it possible to understand the meanings of unfamiliar words. The speed of memorizing the meanings of derived words in this case directly depends on the understanding of the word-formation structure of the word. This technique will greatly facilitate the development of the vocabulary and will contribute to the formation of a holistic view of the language as a system among foreign students.
