The paper presents geoecological evaluation of the city of Loznica for the purposes of sports and recreational tourism based on quantitative method of diversity, V-Wert Method. Using the GIS tool by the quantitative method, the criteria of natural components (relief, forest, water surface and climate) are evaluated for the analyzed area. In the proposed method, the climate factor was supplemented by the analysis of the bioclimatic index Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI). When the evaluation was completed, the final results were obtained based on which the degrees of convenience of different parts of the analyzed area have been presented. Out of the total analyzed surface, which amounts to 705 km 2 , favorable surfaces comprise 21 km 2 (2.98%), and very favorable surfaces comprise 33 km 2 , i.e. 4.68% of the territory. The largest area consists of conditionally favorable terrains-333 km 2 (47.23%). Since one of the basic strategic priorities of the City of Loznica is improvement and development of sports and recreational tourism, the aim of this analysis is to emphasize the potential of the mentioned area in terms of general suitability of the terrain for the development of this type of tourism.
LOCAL VALUATION OF THE NATURAL HERITAGE FOR TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN A CROSS-BORDER RURAL TERRITORY (SIERRA DEL LAROUCO, GALICIA-NORTH OF PORTUGAL) ABSTRACTIn most both rural and mountainous spaces the touristic and recreation offer is based on the natural resources. The knowledge of the perception and prospects from the local actors regarding the values and potential of such natural heritage is crucial to promote a sustainable tourism. The Sierra del Larouco is a cross-border rural space, located between the South of Galicia (Spain) and the North of Portugal. The main objective of the research is to know the perception, ideas and prospects of the local actors with respect to the available assets and their use as resources for local development throughout tourism. In order to achieve this objective, 29 interviews have been performed starting from a questionnaire guide. The present work only contains a part of the interviews results because it is an exploratory study:it is related to the degree of interestand valuation of the availableresources expressed by key actors. Among these resources, the natural heritage have a prominent position; at the same time, the results show the potential of the "own"heritage as a set of touristic resources to improve the life conditions in the local dimension.
The role played by synergies between wine culture, territorial identity and tourism may be crucial for rural development. This research focuses on the perception and experiences about this topic by the local actors in the territory of the Denomination of Origin Ribeira Sacra (NW Spain). The research relied on twelve in-depth interviews. The wine culture, along with its landscape and heritage, favors the consolidation of tourism strategies. The synergies between the world of wine, identity and tourism generate values that are essential for rural development.
A gravity core (220 cm depth) was collected to investigate the geochemistry, enrichment, and pollution of trace metals in anoxic sediments from San Simon Bay, an ecosystem of high biological productivity in the northwest of Spain. A five-step sequential extraction procedure was used. The Cu, Pb, and Zn contents decreased with depth, with maximum values in the top layers. Ni and Zn were bound to pyrite fractions, while Cd and Pb were associated with the most mobile fractions. The analyzed metals were associated with the fractions bound to organic matter, mainly with the strongly bound to organic matter fraction. High Cd and Cu values were observed. The fractionation showed a high mobility for Cd (28.3–100%) and Pb (54.0–70.2%). Moreover, the pollution factor and the geoaccumulation index reflected a high contamination for Pb and a moderate contamination for Cu and Zn in the superficial layers, pointing to a possible ecotoxicological risk to organisms in San Simon Bay.
