O acelerado processo de urbanização, aliado à falta de planejamento do solo urbano, ocasiona sérios impactos sociais, ambientais e econômicos nas cidades. Os sistemas de drenagem são afetados pela impermeabilização do solo que diminui a infiltração e aumenta o volume do escoamento superficial, intensificando as inundações urbanas. Nesse sentido, objetivo do presente artigo é propor uma metodologia, baseada em produtos oriundos do sensoriamento remoto, capaz de identificar espacialmente, áreas prioritárias para intervenções e que apresentem características que viabilizem a implementação de técnicas de Desenvolvimento Urbano de Baixo Impacto. A metodologia consistiu, inicialmente, na pesquisa e coleta de dados, referente às áreas mais susceptíveis a inundações e à densidade populacional do bairro Bodocongó, em Campina Grande-PB. Em seguida, com o auxílio do software QGIS, produziu-se um mapa com as regiões que apresentam simultaneamente estas duas características, indicando o grau de prioridade para ações de intervenção. A partir da análise deste produto, escolheu-se três áreas prioritárias para estudo da viabilidade da aplicação de sistemas de biorretenção e trincheiras de infiltração, levando em consideração a declividade do terreno e o tipo de solo. A metodologia mostrou-se eficaz, servindo como subsídio para seleção de regiões prioritárias, de forma simples e direta, podendo ser facilmente expandida para outros locais e utilizada como uma importante ferramenta para os gestores urbanos na tomada de decisão.
O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar a composição gravimétrica e a classificação de Resíduos Sólidos Urbanos (RSU) dispostos no Aterro Sanitário em Campina Grande, Paraíba, Brasil. Para isso, coletaram-se aproximadamente 731 kg de resíduos com tempo de aterramento de sete dias, em duas Células do citado Aterro, que foram utilizados tanto para a realização da composição gravimétrica como para o preparo dos extratos solubilizado e lixiviado empregados na classificação dos RSU. Os resultados demonstraram que os RSU dispostos nas Células avaliadas são constituídos, principalmente, de material misto, atingindo 71%, seguido de plástico com 13,2% e matéria orgânica com 5,1%. Em relação à classificação desses resíduos, constatou-se que, devido devido ao fato de as concentrações dos elementos Pb, Cr e Cd ultrapassarem os limites estabelecidos no Anexo G da NBR 10.004 e os metais As, Ba, Pb, Cr, Ag e Cd terem apresentado baixa capacidade de lixiviação, tais RSU foram classificados como Classe IIA. Diante disso, conclui-se que os RSU estudados não apresentam periculosidade para o meio ambiente e a saúde pública quanto ao critério toxicidade, levando em consideração os metais analisados e o seu adequado gerenciamento.
