A total of 2,381 documents published in the journal were collected through an automated process and later analyzed using techniques such as bibliometrics, text mining, social networking, and geo-analysis. This study enables understanding of the path that the RAE journal has followed throughout its existence including 22 different management periods, the increase of authorship within its publications during 14 time intervals, the most frequent and important terms and keywords appearing in its published documents, and the formation of co-authoring networks of researchers who contribute to the development of the Administration science in the Country. This paper investigates the relationship between electricity consumption, economic classification and household income, by means of comparing Brazilian Census Micro-Data with the customer database of AES Eletropaulo, a large Brazilian electric distribution company, using traditional statistics and spatial auto-regressive models. Income and economic classification are recognized as efficient proxies for purchasing power. Income indicators based on Electricity Consumption can be almost automatically generated by electric companies using GIS techniques, and this is a potential new business model for electric companies.

ABSTRACTThe case is based on a shoe store network (Store A) facing stock problems. The company does not use information on customers and location of the shops to renew its stock, which generates lower sales, excess or lack of products in some stores, since the shoes models available are higher (lower) than the demand. The objective of this study is to show how Geographic Information System (GIS) tools can be applied to solve the problem using the Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) data. It was noted that Network A's marketing mix is not aligned to their target and potential audience. The analysis provides insights into actions to be taken in relation to the stores product mix, pricing, location of shops, and brand positioning. The contributions of geomarketing and geoinformation tools are critical to retail decisions. The GIS technique allows analyzing phenomena applied to marketing and distribution to the extent that assist in identifying patterns, in addition to use simultaneously several databases. This work helps to broaden the discussion of GIS tools in marketing and to show how free tools and data can be strong allies to business.
