Biological aspects of /3/era varana (Lepidoptera: Notodontidae) , defoliator of Eucalyptus spp.The biology of 8/era vorana (Schaus) was studied in Minas Corais State, Brazil, under a photoperiod of 10 hours and 250 10C of temperature.Main results were: 57,37 and 55,50 days frcm egg to adult for males and females, respectivelly. Egg incubation and viability were 6,19 t 0,72 and 30,81 4 17,53%,respectiveliy. Mean number of eggs por female were 209,70 29,56, ranging from 79 to 340, disperscd in 5,87 ± 0,66 postures. Pre-pupal stage showed a mean of 2,43 0,25 days for males and 2,92 ± 0,37 for females. Pupal stage was 12,21 1 0,50 and 11,08 ± 0,48 days for males and females, respectivelly. Viability of pre-pupal and pupai etages reached 100%. Life apan were 4,52 ± 0,56 and 6,17 0,68 days for males and females, respectivelly.
RESUMOEstudou-se a biologia de 8/era vorana (Schaus), cujas lagartas so destolhadoras em povoamentos homogêneos e implantados de Euca/yptus spp. (Myrtaceae) , no Brasil.
