We propose a low complexity design of the linear transmit filters for a MIMO interference channel. This design is based on a minimum mean squared error (MMSE) approach incorporating the signal and the interference leakage for each transmitter. Unlike the previous methods, it allows a closed-form expression of the regularization factor for the MMSE transmit filter. Hence, it requires a lower computational complexity compared to the conventional MMSE approach that is optimally achieved by solving a polynomial equation to find the regularization factor. Furthermore, the mean squared error (MSE) performance of the proposed design is verified by simulations to have nearly no loss compared to the conventional MMSE approach.

O objetivo desse trabalho foi a determinação da estrutura populacional da espécie. Foram escolhidos quatro locais de amostragem com características ambientais distintas na bacia do rio Tibagi. As amostragens foram realizadas mensalmente no período de janeiro de 1997 a fevereiro de 1998. Um total de 1553 indivíduos foram capturados, apresentando constância em todos os trechos, com as maiores abundâncias nos trechos do rio Congonhas (76 %). Variações ocorreram entre os trechos por fase de desenvolvimento e classes de comprimento e na distribuição espacial, demonstrando que a espécie apresenta estrutura populacional diferenciada. A espécie apresentou grande capacidade adaptativa exploratória, utilizando estratégias diferenciadas na estrutura da população. A espécie apresentou uma forte tendência ao comportamento r estrategista. O melhor desenvolvimento foi identificado em Congonhas I, talvez devido a existência de condições ambientais favoráveis a manutenção da espécie.

We evaluated the feeding of fish species of the Nova Avanhandava Reservoir, low Tietê River, São Paulo State, Brazil. Fishes were collected in two stretches of the reservoir: Santa Bárbara (14 samples) and Bonito (two samples) between September 2002 and March 2004, using gill and seining nets. The results of stomach contents analysis were expressed with the frequency of occurrence and gravimetric method, combined in the Alimentary Index (AI). The 20 species studied consumed 52 food items, grouped in 10 food categories: aquatic insects, terrestrial insects, crustaceans, fish, macroinvertebrates, microcrustaceans, algae, vegetal matter, detritus/sediment and scales. The aquatic insects (mainly Chironomidae, Odonata and Ephemeroptera) were the most common food resources, consumed by 18 species. The diet composition of the community (species grouped) indicated that the dominant food category in the diet of fishes was aquatic insects (AI = 77.6%), followed by crustaceans (AI = 7.1%). Four trophic guilds were identified according a cluster analysis (Pearson distance): insectivorous (10 species), omnivorous (4 species), detritivorous (3 species) and piscivorous/carcinophagous (3 species). Despite the highest number of species, the insectivorous guild was responsible for more than 80% in captures in number and biomass (CPUEn and CPUEb). The low values of niche breadth presented by all species, along with the low values of diet overlap between species pairs indicate a high degree of food resources partitioning among species. The aquatic insects, despite being the main food resource of insectivorous fishes, also complemented the diet of other species, which demonstrate the importance of this food resource for the fish community, sustaining a high diversity, abundance and biomass of fishes.Neste estudo foi avaliada a dieta das espécies de peixes do reservatório de Nova Avanhandava, baixo rio Tietê, Estado de São Paulo, Brasil. This paper investigates the problem of blindly and semi-blindly acquiring the channel gains for an underdetermined synchronous multiuser multicarrier system. The special case of a MISO (Multiple Input Single Output) channel is considered where the different users transmit at the same time and in the same bandwidth. In order to separate the different users blindly, techniques exploiting the finite alphabet are used. For such techniques, and for a general underdetermined MIMO system, we study conditions under which the channel and the data for each user are blindly and semi-blindly identifiable. We consider the Stochastic Maximum Likelihood (SML) criterion in which the unknown input symbols are modeled as discrete random variables. We apply the Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm in the frequency domain to get blind and semi-blind channel estimates for each user in the MISO case. We also present a recursive EM solution that updates the channel and noise estimates at each time instant. Simulations show that users can be separated even at low SNR. Furthermore, semi-blind estimation allows for a more robust estimation solution since a possible singularity problem is avoided.

The diversity of fish species in an transition zone between the River Paranapanema and the head mouth of the Jurumirim Reservoir was evaluated. Fish samples were collected from October 1995 to September 1996, by experimental fishing (gill-nets and sieve), in three marginal shallow lagoons and two channel river zones. Gill-net collections resulted in 21 taxons of native fishes. Detritivorous Characiformes such as Steindachnerina insculpta were predominant. Sieve collections resulted in 31 taxa and the Tetragonopterinae subfamily was the/most representative group, which included small species as Cheirodon stenodon. The equitability index characterized the high heterogeneity of fish numeric abundance, reflecting the dominance of a few groups. A significant relationship between biotic and abiotic variables was indicated by the first canonical function. In comparison with other regions of the drainage basin, the ecotone zone studied indicated a higher species richness and, in the case of some species, fishes in all stages of development. This study demonstrated the necessity to preserve the ecological zone for the fishing and fishery management in the reservoir.
