O estudo de qualquer ciência é algo instigante e que, na maioria das vezes, é vista pelos alunos do ensino básico como algo complicado por se tratar de conteúdos vastos, logo, buscou-se neste trabalho desenvolver uma forma diferente para tentar minimizar as dificuldades enfrentadas em sala de aula. Desse modo, o objetivo principal deste trabalho foi encontrar características anatômicas e morfológicas da planta mandioca (Manihot sculenta Crantz) através de cortes histológicos que possam ser praticados em uma sala de aula de escolas de Educação Básica no ensino de Biologia. Utilizou-se raiz, caule e folha da planta para o preparo das lâminas e os melhores resultados aplicou-se em turmas de educação básica. Durante as aulas, os cortes histológicos selecionados foram utilizados complementarmente às aulas teóricas e, posteriormente, fez-se a prática com os alunos da escola de Educação Básica Costa Rego, em Arapiraca, Alagoas, Brasil. Percebeu-se que a técnica utilizada e a planta escolhida para o estudo proporcionaram empolgação e interesse dos alunos. Com o uso de uma planta conhecida e com o método escolhido, obteve-se um retorno favorável, permitindo um melhor aprendizado e compreensão do conteúdo teórico ministrado. Assim, conclui-se que o uso da planta mandioca em aulas práticas de biologia vegetal, em uma região produtora dessa cultura, utilizando morfologia de raiz, caule e folha estimulou os alunos no estudo de botânica, melhorando o processo de aprendizagem.
