<p>El Perú es probablemente el país con más diversidad nativa de ají cultivado en el mundo. En este contexto, el objetivo de esta investigación fue diagnosticar las plagas y enfermedades de cinco genotipos de ají (<em>Capsicum</em> sp.), cultivadas en condiciones de un invernadero semicontrolado. El experimento se instaló bajo un Diseño Completamente al Azar (DCA) con cinco variedades de aji. Se evaluó la incidencia de plagas y enfermedades. En laboratorio se realizó la caracterización morfológica de las plagas y enfermedades encontradas. Las enfermedades identificadas fueron pudrición de frutos causada por <em>Penicillium</em> sp y pudrición vascular causada por <em>Fusarium</em> sp. Se presentaron solo para el ají pimiento con incidencias del 3,8 % y 8,3 % respectivamente. La única plaga que se presento fue el pulgón verde identificado como <em>Myzus</em> sp, que se presentó en todos los tratamientos, pero con mayor incidencia en ají pimiento con un promedio de 13,52 pulgones/cm<sup>2</sup>.</p>
<p>En la presente investigación se implementó un sistema de fitorremediación a escala de laboratorio o piloto con la finalidad de evaluar la eficiencia de remoción de contaminantes de las especies <em>Eichhornia crassipes</em>, <em>Nymphoides humboldtiana</em> y <em>Nasturtium officinale</em>, integrado por cuatro sistemas de tratamiento de flujo discontinuo o también llamado por tandas. Este consta de un estanque para cada sistema, el cual simula una laguna pequeña con agua estancada. En estos sistemas se cultivaron plantas como el jacinto de agua (<em>Eichharnia crassipes</em>), ninfoides sudamericana (<em>Nymphoides humboldtiana</em>), berro de agua (<em>Nasturtium officinale</em>). El cuarto sistema consistió en un estanque sin planta acuática al cual se le llamó sistema de control o testigo. El agua residual a tratar se obtuvo de la quebrada de Santa Lucía, donde la población descarga su agua residual. Para determinar la remoción de contaminantes se realizaron evaluaciones cada 15 días, por cuatro veces, para lo cual se analizaron parámetros fisicoquímicos y microbiológicos como: temperatura, pH, turbidez, sólidos totales, demanda química de oxígeno (DQO), demanda bioquímica de oxígeno (DBO5), coliformes totales y fecales. Los resultados muestran que la calidad del efluente tratado cumple en su mayoría con los límites máximos permisibles establecidos en la legislación peruana, obteniéndose un mayor porcentaje de eficiencia de remoción de contaminantes por la especie <em>Eichhornia crassipes</em>. Sin embargo, en cuanto a remoción de parámetros físicos y microbiológicos los mejores datos los arrojó la especie <em>Nymphoides humboldtiana</em>, y en cuanto a los parámetros químicos con DBO y DQO fue la especie <em>Eichhornia crassipes</em> la que obtuvo una mayor eficiencia para la remoción de materia orgánica.</p>
<p>El río Utcubamba es uno de los principales cuerpos de agua dulce en el Departamento de Amazonas. A lo largo de su cauce se encuentra expuesto a una gran cantidad de actividades antropogénicas que ocasionan el deterioro de su ecosistema. La escasez de información sobre el transporte de elementos químicos por este río, y su posterior descarga en el río Utcubamba, impiden elaborar planes adecuados para el uso sustentable de sus recursos y así tratar de mitigar el impacto generado por las actividades humanas. La presente investigación tuvo como objetivos determinar la variación espacial, del río Utcubamba a lo largo de las cuencas media y baja e identificar el comportamiento de los contaminantes, así como su distribución. Se seleccionaron once estaciones de muestreo, seis en la cuenca media y cinco en la cuenca baja. En general, el transporte medio de metales pesados aumentó hacia la cuenca baja, debido principalmente a que ambas cuencas, se encuentran impactadas por la acción antropogénica.</p>
