S U M M A R YThe Multifractal Stress-Activated model is a statistical model of triggered seismicity based on mechanical and thermodynamic principles. It predicts that, above a triggering magnitude cut-off M 0 , the exponent p of the Omori law for the time decay of the rate of aftershocks is a linear increasing function p(M) = a 0 M + b 0 of the main shock magnitude M. We previously reported empirical support for this prediction, using the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC) catalogue. Here, we confirm this observation using an updated, longer version of the same catalogue, as well as new methods to estimate p. One of this methods is the newly defined Scaling Function Analysis (SFA), adapted from the wavelet transform. This method is able to measure a mathematical singularity (hence a p-value), erasing the possible regular part of a time-series. The SFA also proves particularly efficient to reveal the coexistence and superposition of several types of relaxation laws (typical Omori sequences and short-lived swarms sequences) which can be mixed within the same catalogue. Another new method consists in monitoring the largest aftershock magnitude observed in successive time intervals, and thus shortcuts the problem of missing events with small magnitudes in aftershock catalogues. The same methods are used on data from the worldwide Harvard Centroid Moment Tensor (CMT) catalogue and show results compatible with those of Southern California. For the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) catalogue, we still observe a linear dependence of p on M, but with a smaller slope. The SFA shows however that results for this catalogue may be biased by numerous swarm sequences, despite our efforts to remove them before the analysis.
Global warming and ecological footprint solid wast of Parintins (AM)The present work has with the objective calculate the ecological footprint (Ecological Footprint Method-EFM) of municipal solid waste (MSW) the city of Parintins, 2011 and 2013. The data in tonnes were found in the Municipal Public Cleaning (SEMOSP) and Municipal Environment (SEMMA). Subsequently, if applied the methodology of ecological footprint which quantifies the residues generated CO2 and CH4, the main global warming gas. After, applies the 1.37 equivalence factor related to bioproductivity global energy land to standardize on global hectare (gha), the measure of the ecological footprint. The per capita / year (0.3057 and 0.3763 gha) to the in habitants of Parintins be shown increasing the ecological footprint of MSW. The ecological footprint aggregates multiple data to complete its analysis matrix. If we associate an environmental problem, as the production of municipal solid waste, the ecological footprint, you will be able to quantify or measure of the pressure caused to the ecological environment for our actions. So we can follow the change over time and compare to other urban spaces through this indicator. It is noteworthy that are still rare research in Amazonian cities through this indicator sustainability. However, municipal waste by itself constitute...
ABSTRACT The State of Amazonas has one of the largest preserved biodiversity on the planet. It has a valuable gene bank for scientific and economic exploration, however, which is threatened by environmental degradation. Due to its rich social diversity with a large number of indigenous ethnicities, which is marked by the culture of peoples on the riverside and rich in folkloric festivities, the region is also known as a Reference in Ecotourism. This paper aims at analyzing the impact of the Iranduba/AM ecotourism site on the local communities. Qualitative research using the Focal Group methodological technique was used for data collection. This work was carried out in order to investigate the modus operandi of ecotourism in the Amazon to show whether this activity is done in accordance with the concepts advocated in the literature. This ecotourism pole in Iranduba was chosen for its large concentration of jungle lodges and for the variety of its neighboring communities. The result of this study indicates that communities in this site are excluded from the process which is the ecotourism tripod, with respect to environmental, social and economic balance. There is also a lack of consensus within the local tourist market on the importance of social and environmental sector. This study aims to give a contribution with basic information of the reality of ecotourism market in the Amazonas state to subsidize the construction of public policies in the North region of Brazil. .
This article is of fundamental importance, as it aims to objectify and show how "fairy tales" can be worked in the classroom, as a pedagogical mediation in the literacy process. In view of the difficulties of students in the literacy process. Qualitative research was used, as we do not want to use statistical data, prioritizing the quality with which students learn rather than quantity; phenomenological approach method because we seek to highlight the visions and experiences in the research field. And for a better understanding of the theme addressed in the textual genre "fairy tales", we seek to base our research on the following theorists, Coelho (2000), Dohme (2003), Ferreiro (2000, Soares (2003) among others. The research took place in a municipal school in the city of Parintins-AM. Through an educational analysis, we chose to work with fairy tales, awakening interest, creativity and critical thinking in students. From a personal point of view, the research aroused in teachers the interest in carrying out an in-depth study in which it is possible to make use of the everyday knowledge that the student already has in favor of a "learning that promotes him". As researchers, it is our wish that this research serves as subsidies for other researches, or that the University itself comes, through researches or extension projects, to establish knowledge in an assured way.
