Quels rôles l'argumentation orale peut-elle jouer dans la construction d'un savoir à l'école ? À partir d'un exemple particulier de démarche didactique pratiquée en sciences au cycle III, la forme des tournures argumentatives (affirmation, reformulation, réfutation) est étudiée, ainsi que leur fondement (logique, empirique, basé sur l'expertise, fonctionnaliste). Cet article insiste par ailleurs sur le caractère plus ou moins probant des expériences menées par les élèves, ce qui nécessite alors de recourir à un second moment de discussion, non plus pour préciser les hypothèses, mais pour lire le perceptible.
