Objective: We aimed to compare intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements via three different tonometers: the Goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT), the Tono-Pen ® XL (TPXL), and a non-contact airpuff tonometer (NCT).Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of 200 eyes from 200 patients. Right eyes of all patients were included in this study. IOP was measured via GAT, NCT, and TPXL by three physicians. Each physician used one of the tonometers. Measurements via the three devices were compared. Results: The mean IOP was 15.5±2.2 mmHg (range 10-22) with the GAT, 16.1±3.0 (range 9-25) with the TPXL, and 16.1±2.8 (range 10-26) with the NCT. Bland-Altman analysis showed that the mean difference between measurements from the NCT and the GAT was 0.6±2.3 mmHg. The mean difference between the TPXL and GAT measurements was 0.7±2.5 mmHg. The mean difference between the NCT and TPXL measurements was -0.02±3.0 mmHg. There was no significant difference between the groups according to a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test. P-values were 0.998 for NCT-TPXL, 0.067 for NCT-GAT, and 0.059 for TPXL-GAT. Conclusion:The NCT and TPXL provide IOP measurements comparable to those of the gold standard GAT in normotensive eyes.

PurposeTo compare the efficacy of low-fluence photodynamic therapy (PDT) and PDT with half-dose verteporfin in chronic central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC).Patients and methodsThe medical records of 64 eyes from 60 patients with chronic CSC were retrospectively reviewed; 36 eyes received low-fluence PDT (25 J/cm2) and 28 eyes received half-dose verteporfin PDT (3 mg/m2). The primary outcome measure was the proportion of eyes with complete resolution of subretinal fluid. Secondary outcome measures were the changes in best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and central foveal thickness, and the proportion of eyes that showed an increase of ≥5 letters in BCVA at the last visit.ResultsThe mean follow-up period was 12.5±4.3 months and 13.1±4 months in the low-fluence group and half-dose group, respectively (P=0.568). Thirty-three eyes (91.6%) in the low-fluence group and 26 eyes (92.8%) in the half-dose verteporfin group showed complete resolution of subretinal fluid (P=0.703). BCVA increased by a mean of 7.4 letters and 4.8 letters in the low-fluence group and half-dose group, respectively (P=0.336). Seventeen eyes (52.8%) in the low-fluence group and 14 eyes (50%) in the half-dose group experienced a gain of ≥5 letters in BCVA (P=0.825). In the low-fluence and half-dose verteporfin group, the mean baseline central foveal thickness was 351±90 μm and 341±96 μm, and significantly decreased to 188±61 μm and 181±47 μm, respectively (P<0.01).ConclusionBoth treatments resulted in complete subretinal fluid resolution in most of the eyes, with significantly better visual acuity outcomes compared to baseline at the last visit.

Purpose: To evaluate the possible hemodynamic changes following strabismus surgery via optical coherence tomography angiography. Methods: Thirty-two eyes of 16 patients who underwent strabismus surgery in one eye were included in the study. Fellow eyes were used as a control group. The vessel densities of the superficial and deep capillary plexus and superficial and deep foveal avascular zones were measured preoperatively and 3 months postoperatively. Results: The mean superficial and deep foveal avascular zones measurements were 0.84 ± 0.09 and 0.76 ± 1.13 mm 2 , respectively. The mean vessel density of the superficial capillary plexus was 1.23 ± 0.12 and 11.13 ± 1.04 mm 2 preoperatively in the 1- and 3-mm zones, respectively, whereas the mean vessel density of the deep capillary plexus was 1.13 ± 0.16 and 10.11 ± 1.28 mm 2 preoperatively. Postoperatively, the mean superficial and deep foveal avascular zones changed to 0.20 ± 0.13 and 0.23 ± 0.12 mm 2 , respectively. Postoperatively, the mean vessel density of the superficial capillary plexus changed to 1.47 ± 0.11 and 12.75 ± 1.10 mm 2 , and the mean vessel density of the deep capillary plexus changed to 1.56 ± 0.12 and 13.91 ± 1.35 mm 2 in 1- and 3-mm zones, respectively. There was a statistically significant increase in vessel density measurements of the superficial and deep capillary plexus, and a statistically significant decrease in measurements of the superficial and deep foveal avascular zone postoperatively ( P < .05). In the fellow eyes, there was no statistically significant change in any of the measurements ( P > .05). Conclusions: Following strabismus surgery, vessel density of the fovea may increase and the foveal avascular zone may decrease according to optical coherence tomography angiography measurements. We found SLS, CLS, and SE to be consistent: all three methods can be used to obtain measurements of VA in healthy and amblyopic preschool children.

In healthy individuals, different imaging modalities can be used to measure LID, but AS-OCT can be used in pediatric age-groups as a preferred imaging method because it is easy and noninvasive.
