The paper describes a hardware solution for the IEEE 802.11 MAC (Medium Access Control) layer in an RF-MIMO WLAN. Architecture and implementation details of the MAC processor including a hardware accelerator and a 16-bit MAC-PHY interface are presented. The proposed hardware solution is tested and verified using a PHY link emulator.
In this paper we are investigating the performance of a 802.11a compliant MAC protocol used in MIMAX (MImo for MAXimum reliability and performance) system. The protocol is developed in SDL (Specification and Description Language) and evaluated on a hardware platform. The evaluation results are later used to commit hardware/software partitioning of the protocol. The paper also describes testing setup used to investigate performance of the complete MIMAX system. It gives the measurement results and comparison to traditional 802.11a SISO implementation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
