Während in Benzoltricarbonylchrom photochemisch ein Austausch des aromatischen Liganden möglich ist1, versagt diese Reaktion beim Dibenzolchrom2. Im Zusammenhang mit systematischen Studien habe wir jetzt die photochemische Substitu tion des aromatischen Liganden in Aromatendieneisen(O)-Komplexen untersucht. Von den in der Literatur beschriebenen Verbindungen dieses Typs3-6 erschien uns [(^-Phenyl)phenyläthylphos-phan] (^-2,3-dimethylbutadien)eisen(0) ( l) 5'6 be sonders geeignet.Es zeigte sich, daß der koordinierte Phenylring durch ein Dien substituiert werden kann. Belich tung von 1 in 2,3-Dimethylbutadien (X > 270 nm)6 ergab neben Ausgangsmaterial in 65-proz. Ausbeute Bis (^ -2,3 -Dimethylbutadien) diphenyläthy lphosphaneisen(O) (2). In dieser Verbindung7 ist das Phosphan nicht mehr über den Phenylring, sondern über den Phosphor an das Eisen koordiniert. h L A 6 H e A y " ch; (M) Fragmentionen, die M-C6H 10 und M-2 C6H 10 entsprechen. Im 1H-NMR-Spektrum erscheinen die aromatischen Protonen des Phosphans bei r = 2,5 ppm, die der Äthylgruppe bei t = 7,44 ppm (Hb) bzw. 9,15 ppm (Ha). Hb = 7,5 Hz, Jna, P = 12 Hz, Jnb, P = 5 Hz). Den zwei Dimethyl buta diengruppen entsprechen die Singuletts bei r = 8,28 ppm (Hc), und r = 9,15 ppm (Hd). Die inneren Pro tonen (He) treten als Dublett bei r = 11,39 ppm auf (J He, P = 18 Hz).Der Mechanismus der photochemischen Verdrän gung des Aromaten durch das Dien ist im einzelnen noch unklar. Die Tatsache, daß bei dieser Reaktion keinerlei Zersetzungsprodukte beobachtet wurden, deutet darauf hin, daß das Phosphan in keiner Reaktionsphase völlig aus der Koordinationssphäre des Eisens entfernt ist, sondern daß eine schritt weise Entkoordinierung des Phenylringes mit der Einführung des Diens und der Koordinierung des Phosphors einhergeht.
