Summary 1. On examination of 245 infants and young children yeasts were found in 29 % of cases. 2. In comparison with the bile of adults the bile of children appears to be a better medium for yeasts. 3. In the great majority of cases Candida albicans was isolated. 4. Possibly the yeasts isolated were parasites rather than saprophytes, especially in the presence of inflammations of the biliary tract. 5. Lambliasis creates favourable conditions for growth of bacteria and yeasts by causing damage to many organs of the infantile organism. Resumen 1. Revisando 245 casos de lactantes y niños pequeños hemos encontrado levaduras en 29 % de los casos. 2. La vesícula biliar de los niños parece ser comparativamente un mejor medio para las levaduras que la de los adultos. 3. De las levaduras por nosotros halladas aparece Candida albicans en gran mayoría. 4. Las levaduras halladas posiblemente no son saprófitos sino parásitos, (especialmente en los estados inflammatories de las vías biliares. 5. La lambliosis proporciona condiciones favorables al crecimiento de bacterias y levaduras mediante la influencia dañina sobre muchos órganos des organismo infantil.
