Die Häufigkeit begleitender Pleuraergüsse bei Leberzirrhose wird unterschiedlich mit 0,4% bis 35% (7), zumeist mit 3%-9% angegeben. Uberwiegend ist der Pieuraerguß rechts, seltener links oder aber auch beiderseits. In Ausnahmefällen (5) wurden auch Pleuraergüsse beobachtet, ohne daß eine Bauchwassersucht klinisch nachge-wiesen werden konnte. Meistens bestand aber ein deutlicher Aszites, wenn sich zur Leberzirrhose ein Pleuraerguß hinzugesellte (11), der als »hepatischer Hydrothorax« (12) bezeichnet wurde.
