Mischungen von LaCl3 (SmCl3, GdCl3, YbCl3) mit SrCl2 (BaCl2) wurden differenzthermoanalytisch und röntgenographisch untersucht. In den Zustandsdiagrammen wurden die peritektoid bzw. Peritektisch zerfallenden Verbindungen BaLnCl5, M2InCl7 und Ba3LnCl9 nachgewiesen, die Existenz der Phase Sr4LnCl11 wird vermutet. Eine Mischkristallbildung auf der Basis der Erdalkalihlogenide wurde beobachtet. Sr2SmCl7 und Sr2GdCl7 sind isotyp und wegen der sehr ähnlichen Reflexmuster der Guinier‐Aufnahmen strukturverwandt mit Sm3Cl7. Die Systeme ähneln bei gleichen Radienquotienten der Kationen den Zustandsdiagrammen LnCl7LnCl2.
Die Mischungsenthalpien der Systeme LaCl3(GdCl3, YbCl3)SrCl2 wurden calorimetrisch bestimmt. Alle Mischungsenthalpien sind exotherm, die Minima liegen bei etwa 65 Mol‐% SrCl2.
Die Zustandsdiagramme CuCl/LaCl3 (GdCl3, YbCl3), AgCl/LaCl3 (GdCl3, YbCl3) und TlCl/LaCl3 (GdCl3, YbCl3) wurden durch Differenzthermoanalyse bestimmt. Die Systeme mit CuCl bzw. AgCl sind eutektisch, nur mit YbCl3 werden die peritektisch zerfallenden Phasen Cu3YbCl6 bzw. Ag3YbCl6 gebildet. Die thalliumchloridhaltigen Systeme enthalten mehrere Verbindungen, nämlich die Typen TlLn2Cl7 in den Systemen TlCl/GdCl3 (YbCl3) sowie Tl2LnCl5 in den Systemen TlCl/LaCl3 (GdCl3) und Tl3LnCl6 in den Systemen TlCl/GdCl3 (YbCl3).
Die Mischungsenthalpien der Systeme AgCl/LaCl3 und AgCl/YbCl3 wurden calorimetrisch bei 1173 K bestimmt. Die Wahl eines M+‐Ions mit d10‐Konfiguration setzt, verglichen mit den Alkalikationen, die Tendenz zur Bildung ternärer Halogenide in den MClLnCl3‐Systemen deutlich herab, das Tl+‐Ion mit d10 s2‐Konfiguration verhält sich dagegen wie die Alkalikationen vergleichbarer Größe. Die Mischungsenthalpien der AgCl‐haltigen Systeme sind deutlich weniger exotherm als die der vergleichbaren NaCl + LnCl3‐Mischungen.
