The objective of this research are to identify the effectiveness of Digital Story Media in teaching listening, and whether there is an interaction between the media and students' schemata. This experimental study was conducted at a university in Madiun, East Java. The population was the second semester students of this university in the academic year of 2012/2013. Cluster random sampling was used to select 132 students for obtaining two classes of sample and they are randomly classified into two groups: experimental and control group. The instruments of this research were listening test and students' schemata questionnaire. The data were analyzed using Liliefors and Bartlete tests to investigate the normality and the homogeneity of the data. After that ANOVA and TUKEY tests were used to test the hypotheses. The research findings show that: (1) Digital Story Media is more effective than Animation Video in teaching listening; (2) the students having high schemata have better listening skill than the students having low schemata; and (3) there is an interaction between teaching media and students' schemata in teaching listening. That Digital Story Media is effective to teach listening, however teachers are suggested to improve the students' schemata because it affects students listening achievements.
Buluharjo Village, Magetan Regency is a rural area, the majority of which are horticultural crops. Shallots are one of the commodities in the region. The productivity of shallots for the last three years has decreased due to the reduction in agricultural land caused by the construction of housing projects. The decline in shallot production is caused by the lack of land and the presence of plant pests such as worms, caterpillars, fungi and bacteria. The use of high chemical fertilizers, improper selection of seeds makes the quantity and quality of shallot production not optimal. The purpose of the activity is to provide training on red onion cultivation with verticulture techniques as a solution for using narrow land. The method used is pre survey, survey, socialization and training. The activity was carried out for 6 months. The result of the activity is an increase in understanding of modern agricultural techniques, namely verticulture in the field of red onion farming. Public understanding of modern agricultural systems, and increasing the productivity of shallots. The community is very enthusiastic and actively involved in applying vertical culture techniques. The community can apply the shallot verticulture technique on narrow land.
The aims of research are (1) The implementation of Problem Based Learning strategy to teach speaking descriptive text (2) To find the problems of Problem Based Learning strategy to teach speaking descriptive text (3) To know the solutions of the Problem Based Learning strategy to teach speaking descriptive text. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative research and researcher uses case study in answering the problem of the research. This research takes the seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Bendo, Kabupaten Magetan in term 2018/2019. The results of research show that the implementation Problem Based Learning strategy to teach speaking descriptive text are (1) by explaining the materials while the students do the task in pair and (2) by giving steps in teaching learning process (pre-activities,whislt-activities and post-activities). The problem of Implementation of PBL strategy are (1) some students are difficult to translate from Indonesian into English and (2) some students need more time to do the task. Meanwhile, solution of the implementation of PBL strategy to teach speaking are (1) The teacher gives more time to the students doing the task; (2) Students cooperate each other with friends; (3) The students use the real thing.
World is not yet healing. Covid-19 pandemic has already altered many aspects of life, including in education field. Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture has already set and implemented a vivid scenario towards online learning for students. Since every single aspect in education reach new adaptation, our practical scenario being very important towards teaching-learning process. De-grading and de-testing sound essential to be discussed and implemented in this period of time. This article reveals crucial ideas and implementation towards de-grading and detesting through personal reflection.
This research aims at describing the implementation, advantages, and disadvantages of Sainstagram in teaching speaking for university students. Sainstagram is a blended-learning model combining scientific approach and istagram as its learning tools. The research is conducted in a descriptive qualitative within 24 collegians of English department and a lecturer. The techniques of collecting data are observation, interview, and documentation. The result of the study shows that there are six stages in the teaching speaking using Sainstagram, namely observing, questioning, experimenting, analysing, creating, and communicating. The advantages of Sainstagram are building students' enthusiasm and interest, leaning students to produce more fluent and accurate speech, and accomodating students' various learning styles. Meanwhile, the poor internet connection becomes major obstacles during the teaching learning process which then leads to poor time management. Despite of that disadvantages, lecturers are suggested to use sainstagram to stimulate to speak better and create an interactive studentscentered learning.
Workshops and seminars in the field of education has been widely implemented
The purpose of this research is to know the effects of Reciprocal Teaching toward students's reading ability of recount text in the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Sine in the Schooling year of 2016/2017. Reciprocal Teaching has four strategies, such as; Predicting, Questioning, Clarifying and Summarizing. The method that is used by the researcher is Experimental Design. The researcher used two classes, the first class as control class and the other one is expeimental class. Each class consists of 20 students. They had different treatment. The control class is not treat by the Reciprocal Teaching but the experiment class treated Reciprocal Teaching. The researcher got the data by using pretest and postest for each class. The test is 50 items of multiple choices. The researcher used SPSS v23 to count the result of the data. The data analysis showed the significancy of the data. The mean score for experimental group has 49, 20. Then, the mean score for control group has 43, 25. Based on the two means, it can be considered that both of the groups are significantly different. The results of the sig. of the Lavene's test for equality of variances show that it exceeds the level of tolerance p. value .05. The result of sig. is .095. It means that there is no significant different from the two groups and Ho can be rejected. The mean score for group which is treated by using Reciprocal Teaching has 79, 55. Then, the mean score for the group which is not treated by using Reciprocal Teaching has 73, 55. The results of post-test both of the groups show significantly different. The result of independent sample t-test shows the significantly different can be seen from the sig. 004 in t-test for equality of means. This result is lower than the p value .05 of significance tolerance. It can be concluded that Reciprocal Teaching Technique is effective toward students' reading ability of recount text in the eighthgrade of SMPN 1 Sine.
