Die vorliegende Längsschnittstudie (N = 950) untersucht mithilfe von Propensity Score Matching, ob vergleichbare Schülerinnen und Schüler im Verlauf der Sekundarstufe I in Abhängigkeit des besuchten Schultyps unterschiedliche Leistungszuwächse in Deutsch und Mathematik erzielen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass sich die Leistungsdisparitäten im Verlauf der Sekundarstufe I als Folge schultypspezifischer Leistungszuwächse vergrössern. Neben den bekannten Herkunftseffekten auf die Leistungsentwicklung im frühen Schulverlauf kommen demnach auf der Sekundarstufe I zusätzliche Effekte der Schulstruktur hinzu.
