Palavras-chave: energia metabolizável aparente, farinha de carne e ossos, pintos, tamanho de partículas Effect of the Particle Size and the Substitution Level on the Energy Values of Meat and Bone Meal for Broiler ChicksABSTRACT -The objective of this work was to determine the apparent metabolizable energy (AME) and nitrogen-corrected apparent metabolizable energy (AMEn) of meat and bone meal (MBM) with different particle sizes (coarse, medium and fine), in two levels of substitution (20 and 40%) for broiler chicks. Two hundred and eighty broiler chicks with 15 days of age were allotted to a completely randomized design, with seven treatments (six treatments with meat and bone meal and a reference diet), four replicates and ten birds per experimental unit. The AME mean values for the 20 and 40% of substitution were 2.60 and 2.27 and the EMAn 2.50 and 2.14 Kcal/g DM, respectively. The results, considering coarse, medium and fine particle sizes of the MBM, were 2.13, 2.65 and 2.53 kcal/g DM for AME, and 2.03, 2.56 and 2.37 kcal/g DM to AMEn, respectively.
Palavras-chave: frangos de corte, grupos genéticos, nível de proteína, rendimento de carcaça Carcass Yield of Three Genetic Groups of Broiler Chickens Submitted to Diets with Different Protein LevelsABSTRACT -The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the carcass yield of three genetic groups of broilers chickens, obtained at UFV, called UFV1, UFV2 and UFV3. The chicks were fed an unique diet during the initial phase period and isocaloric diet containing 16.5, 18.0, 19.5, and 21.0% of crude protein (CP) at the finishing phase. Two hundred and forty chicks of each genetic group, totaling 720 chicks, were allotted to 48 floor pens up to 42 days of age. At 43 rd day, two males and two females of each pen were weighed and slaughtered for the determination of the carcass yield. A completely randomized experimental design was used in a 3x4x2 factorial arrangement (genetic group, protein level and sex) with four replications, totaling 192 chicks. The values of two chickens data per sex were used in the mean calculation. There were differences among genetic groups for yields of carcass, breast and thigh, and UFV1 group showed the best results. Males had higher yields of thigh and drumstick, however, higher breast and abdominal fat yields were observed for females. As dietary CP levels increased, carcass yield and abdominal fat reduced and thigh yield increased (linear effect). No significant effect was observed for single interaction involving genetic group, protein levels and sex.Key Words: broilers, genetic groups, protein level, carcass yield Rev. bras. zootec., v.28, n.3, p.548-554, 1999 1 Parte da Tese de Mestrado do primeiro autor.
Palavras-chave: frangos de corte, grupos genéticos, níveis de proteína Performance of Three Genetic Groups of Broilers Chicks Fed Diets with DifferentProtein Levels ABSTRACT -The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the performance of three genetic groups of broiler chicks, obtained at UFV, called UFV1, UFV2 and UFV3, fed diets with different crude protein (CP) levels. Two hundred and forty chicks of each genetic group, totaling 720 chicks, were allotted to 48 floor pens up to 42 days of age. At the initial phase (1 to 21 days), all chicks were fed an unique diet. At the final phase (22 to 42 days), the chicks were fed isocaloric diets (3.100 kcal ME/kg) with different CP levels (16.5, 18.0, 19.5, and 21.0%). The studied traits were: feed intake (FI), weight gain (WG) and feed:gain ratio (FG) in the periods from 1 to 21, 22 to 42 and 1 to 42 days. The experiment design at the initial phase was a completely randomized design, with three genetic groups and sixteen replicates, and for the final phase, a 3x4 factorial arrangement (genetic group and protein level) with four replicates. There were differences among genetic groups for FI and WG. The UFV1 group showed the best results. The feed:gain ratio did not differ among the groups. The increase in the protein levels affected the broiler chicks performance. A positive linear effect of CP levels on WG and FG was observed. Protein levels did not influenced FI. No interaction was observed between genetic group and protein level.
Palavras-chave: fósforo disponível, exigência de fósforo, granulometria, frangos de corte Available Phosphorus Requirement and Effect of Particle Size on Phosphorus Bioavailability from Meat and Bone Meal for Broiler ChicksABSTRACT -The objective of this work was to determine the nutritional requirement of available P and the effect of the particle size in the P bioavailability from meat and bone meal for broiler chicks. Two hundred and fifty and 450 Hubbard broiler chicks from 1 to 21 days of age, respectively, were allotted to a completely randomized design, with five (requirement) or nine (bioavailability) treatments, with five replicates and ten birds per experimental unit. The P requirements was determined by means of a basal diet with low P level (.15% available P), supplemented with five levels of P from the dicalcium phosphate. The phosphorus availability was estimated using the relation of the regression coefficient, considering the P from the dicalcium phosphate as 100% available. The estimated nutritional requirement values of available P, determined with the Linear Response Plateau (broken line) ranged from .311% (.104% available P/Mcal ME), for weight gain, to .426% (.142% available P/Mcal ME), for tibia ash (g). The average P available values for meat and bone meal with large, medium and small particle size were 106.50, 103.56 and 121.94%, respectively.
