This research aimed to develop instructional media for occupational safety and health android-based for vocational schools. The second aim is to determine the feasibility of instructional media and student responses. The type of research is research and development (R&D) with the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation (ADDIE) method, namely, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire with fourth scales. Data collection used an assessment questionnaire for two experts and 103 users. Research data analysis techniques used quantitative descriptive analysis. This study's results have produced products in the form of android-based instructional media for Occupational Safety and Health. In this study, we designed and developed an application called Zerosicks for mobile devices to help students learn occupational safety and health principles. The results of testing for all features and navigation work well and under their functions. The assessment results by content experts, media experts, and students as users indicate that this media has a very decent level of eligibility. Suggestions for product development are to add videos to the media, provide selected music, and add discussion forums for users.
Assessments play an important role in chemistry learning and for specific uses. The construction of a test based on multiple representation approaches is needed for measuring the 21st century thinking skills. This study aims to construct and validate a standardized test to measure students’ analytical thinking and chemical representation ability in rate of reaction topic. The test captures four aspects on analytical thinking and four levels of multiple representations (macroscopic, sub-microscopic, symbolic and mathematic). A group of experts confirmed the construct and face validity of the Test of Analytical Thinking based on Multiple Representation (TAT-MR) with 32 items. The TAT-MR was then validated by participating 449 high school students. The test characteristics were analyzed usingRasch model with Partial Credit Model-1 Parameter Logistic (PCM-1PL) approach. The results of theRaschmodeling show that there are 22 TAT-MR items with excellent reliability. Hence, the TAT-MR is acceptable as a good instrument to collect the data. This study suggests that TAT-MR will prove to be a useful instrument for measuring the students’ ability on analytical thinking and chemical representation for rate of reaction topic in chemistry learning.
The study aims to analyze the implementation of Good School Governance in vocational schools in Indonesia as a response of the high number of inappropriate employment to the vocational graduates’ competencies. This present quantitative descriptive study applies the purposive sampling technique by picking up 852 vocational school principals and teachers from 34 provinces in Indonesia. The researcher found a model for improving the vocational school performance based on good school governance in Indonesia covering Transparency, Accountability, Responsibility, Autonomy, Fairness, Participation, Effectiveness and Efficiency, and Consensus-Oriented principles. Among these eight factors, Responsibility is assessed the highest with the Mean score of 3.25, while both Consensus-Oriented and Participation are labelled as “Not Good” with the Mean scores of 2.93 and 2.82 respectively. However, the results of the recent study need to be legitimated in order to formally applied in all vocational schools in Indonesia.
The research aims to develop learning media based on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to improve the effectiveness of applying the Direct Instruction method in learning Mathematics in senior high schools in Indonesia. The designed media were modified from the Borg & Gall's Research and Development consisting of 5 steps, namely: (1) exploration studies, (2) initial product development, (3) expert validation and product revision, (4) limited field trials and product revisions, and (5) main field and final product trials. The research was started from a needs analysis of mathematics teachers to determine the subject matter, the material scope, the depth of material, the most familiar software used by teachers, and the availability of cameras. The validation was done by senior high school math teachers. The designed media covered three mathematics units, i.e. Functions, Polynomials, and Quadratic Inequality by combining the handouts and Microsoft powerpoint software. The research found that the Interactive Learning Media was validly used in learning mathematics among the senior high school involved in the recent study. There is improvement on effectiveness of applying the Interactive Learning Media in learning Mathematics. The media allowed the teachers to combine with the handouts and the powerpoint application to obtain result optimally.
Abstracts. The study aimed to determine whether the learning model used in vocational schools has been effective in producing graduates who are independent, competitive, and can be absorbed by domestic and foreign industries. This research is a quantitative descriptive. This type of research is evaluation research. The evaluation consists of inputs, contexts, processes, products and outcomes (CIPPO). The research conducted at vocational school in Yogyakarta Special Region and Central Java Province. The research sample was taken using purposive sampling. The majority of learning models applied in vocational schools, both theory and practice, are problem-based learning models and work-based learning models. The impact of the implementation of the learning model on the quality of graduates is that an average of 40% of graduates have worked according to expertise, of which 41% are work in the domestic industry. Most vocational schools have utilized the cooperation network in managing the vocational school. Only about 47% use digital industrial network 4.0. Collaboration with utilizing domestic digital industry 4.0 as much as 50% and abroad as much as 38.3%. Policy solutions and practical implementation to increase the absorption of vocational graduates, namely: improving learning facilities, industry-based curriculum, routinely holding job matching, job fairs, alumni networks, collaboration with the ministry of industry, the ministry of labor.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
