Kata kunci: Diaper, Hidrogel, Media tanam ABSTRACT Hundreds of used disposable diapers are wasted in rivers that pass through the DI. Yogyakarta Province (Tribun Jogya, 2018). This problem has to be solved together starting from the source of waste, which is household level. The aim of community service activity is to provide education and training to members of Aisyiyahin DI.Yogyakarta managing used disposable diaper as a mixture of planting media. This activity was attended by 25 members of Lembaga Lingkungan Hidup dan Penanggulangan Bencana (LLHPB) ‘AisyiyahDI. Yogyakarta, where most of the participants were Bank Sampah administrators and had never received similar training. After this training was completed, there was an increase in knowledge and skills of the participants for manage hydrogel became mixed-planting media to growup Tomato plants. Through this training, participants who are mostly Bank Sampahadministrators can interact with local residents or their target’s villager to make the amount of diaper waste in the DIY’s river can be reduced and immediately processed at the household level. Fungi that grow in plant tissue without harming the host are called endophytic fungi. This fungus has the potential as a biological agent (biocontrol) in controlling plant diseases. One of the fungi that can cause disease in banana plants is Fusarium oxysporum, which can cause Fusarium wilt disease. Endophytic fungi have antagonistic properties in the form of nutritional competition and antibiosis. These antagonistic properties can be used as biological agents. The purpose of this study was to isolate and test the antagonistic activity of the endophytic fungus of banana plant (Musa paradisiaca L.) against the pathogenic fungus Fusarium oxysporum. This research is an experimental study, which begins with the isolation of endophytic fungi and then continues with the antagonism activity test. The results of the isolation obtained 4 isolates of endophytic fungi, namely: 1) isolate D1 (Phytium sp.); 2) isolate B1 (Aspergillus sp.); 3) isolate A1 (Trichoderma sp.); and 4) isolate A2 (Penicillium sp.). Based on the antagonism activity test, isolate A1 showed the best results in inhibiting the fungus Fusarium oxysporum through the mechanism of space and nutrient competition, while isolates that showed antibiotic activity were isolate A2. The results of the inhibition test using the dual culture method showed that, 2 isolates (B1 and A2) could inhibit the growth of the fungus Fusarium oxysporum. The highest percentage of inhibition was owned by isolate A2. Based on its ability to inhibit Fusarium oxyaporum, endophytic fungal isolates have the potential to be further developed as Fusarium oxysporum control agents.
Obesity is a condition where there is excessive fat in the body. Weight loss can be accomplished by inhibiting fat absorption through the inhibition of pancreatic lipase activity, a key enzyme in fat metabolism. Natural products from plants contain various phytochemical compounds that can act as pancreatic lipase inhibitors. This research was conducted to determine the lipase inhibitor activity of the methanol extract of Mangifera foetida leaves. Mangifera foetida leaves were extracted and then the total phenolic and flavonoid levels were determined. The extract was tested for its ability to inhibit pancreatic lipase in vitro. The inhibitory activities of the extract and Orlistat were measured using p-nitrophenyl palmitate as a substrate at concentrations of 31.25, 62.5, 125, 250, and 500 µg/mL. The results showed that the extracts of young leaves (YL) and mature leaves (ML) contained phenol and flavonoid compounds. The IC50 values of young leaf extract (YL) and mature leaves (ML) were 45.22 and 35.50 µg/mL, respectively. In conclusion, the Mangifera foetida leaf extract can be promoted as a good source of anti-obesity compounds.
Communities in the area of PRA Ambarketawang and KWT An-Naba’ Gamping Sleman Yogyakarta conduct tilapia fish cultivation. But, they usually sell tilapia fish to the market in raw condition. Therefore, we intends to provide counseling, training and assistance in diversifying the processing of tilapia fish. This activity is an effort to fulfill the needs of protein for daily consumption from ingredients cultivated by the local community. This activity can also be useful in increasing the selling power of tilapia fish and increasing income. The activities carried out in several sessions included counseling on the benefits, nutritional content and potential of tilapia, training in making nuggets, noodles, fish sticks, meatballs, training on product packaging and product marketing. The conclusion of this service activity is the increasing knowledge and skills of partners in processing tilapia into products in the form of fish nuggets, fish sticks, fish noodles and fish meatballs and increasing partners knowledge in packaging products safely and attractively in order to compete with other similar products. Keywords: tilapia, nugget, meatball, noodle, fish stick
Productivity and quality of crops can be increased through polyploidy plants induced by antimitotic compounds such as vinka alkaloids. The use of vinka alkaloids has never been applied to Sword bean (Canavalia ensiformis), a tropical legume belonging to the Fabaceae family. This study aimed to determine the effects of vinka alkaloids treatment on the morphological characters of Sword bean. The treatment consist of four different vinka alkaloids concentrations (0.5%, 1.00%, 1.50%, 2.0%, and untreated (0.0%) act as control. The plants were arranged in a completely randomized design. Treated plants were characterized based on morphological traits such as plant height, leaf area and dry seed weight. The results obtained revealed significant difference (p≤0.05) in the morphological traits of the treated plants when compared with the control. Overall, 2.0% vinka alkaloids concentration resulted in higher average plant height by 193.8 ± 1.86, leaf area increments by 88.6 ± 5.1 (left leaf), 115.1 ± 4.7 (middle leaf), 86.2 ± 3.8 (right leaf) and the dry seed weight by 1.7 ± 3.6. The improvement of the traits is concentration dependent and increases with increment in vinka alkaloids concentration. Thus, we suggested that 2.0% concentration should be employed in improving Sword bean growth and yield.
