Stunting is the nutritional quality of infants under five years of age according to age compared to the usual benchmarks according to the World Health Organization's Multicentre Growth Reference Study in 2006. The incidence of stunting in infants under five years of age is a problem that exists in Indonesia and is a major nutritional problem. Data from the results of monitoring the quality of nutrition in the previous three years period has the highest prevalence compared to other nutritional problems such as malnutrition, thinness, and obesity. The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation of the father's support and mother's behavior in Stunting Prevention Efforts in Tuntung 2 Village, Pancur Batu District, Deli Serdang Regency using a cross-sectional design. This study was done on 135 mothers who have infants aged 6-59 months as respondents. The variables in this study were father's support related to stunting prevention and the dependent variable in this study is the behavior of the mother in preventing stunting. The results showed that there was a significant correlation of the father's support and mothers’ behavior in preventing stunting (p <0.038). To increase efforts of prevent stunting, it is hoped that fathers who have not supported their wives should be more concerned about their toddler's growth and health.
Stunting adalah ketidakseimbangan gizi yang merupakan penurunan kecepatan pertumbuhan dan gangguan pertumbuhan fisik. Masalah gizi terkait stunting masih menjadi permasalahan yang terjadi di Indonesia. Dampak jangka panjang akibat stunting yang masih terjadi adalah gangguan perkembangan fisik, mental, intelektual, serta kognitif. Kejadian stunting yang tinggi pada anak akan mengakibatkan permasalahan jangka panjang dan sulit untuk dikendalikan sehingga akan menyebabkan risiko pada keturunan yang akan rentan dengan berat badan lahir yang rendah. Dukungan dari tenaga kesehatan menjadi hal yang sangat penting dalam pencegahan stunting. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis dukungan tenaga kesehatan dalam pencegahan stunting di Desa Tuntungan 2 Kecamatan Pancur Batu Kabupaten Deli Serdang dengan menggunakan disain cross sectional. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 135 orang ibu yang memiliki balita usia 6-59 bulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dukungan tenaga kesehatan kurang baik dalam pencegahan stunting yaitu sebesar 27,4% dan kejadian stunting sebesar 41,5%. Untuk meningkatkan upaya pencegahan stunting, diharapkan terjadi peningkatan peran dan dukungan dari pemerintah agar pencegahan stunting menjadi prioritas.
Smoking Behavior Among Students of Junior High School In The Working Area of Puskesmas SeiAgul Medan. Cigarettes are one of the tobacco products that contain addictive substances and other ingredients that are harmful to health both directly and indirectly. According to RisetKesehatanDasar (Riskesdas), there is a trend in the age of smoking that is increasingly young from year to year. This study aims to describe smoking behavior among students of junior high school in the working area of PuskesmasSeiAgul Medan. This research was a descriptive study with a cross-sectional study. The population of this study was all the male and female students in grade 8 of junior high school. There were a total of 384 samples. Data were collected with a questionnaire. The results showed that the prevalence of ever smoking was 32,6%. The respondents who have smoking habits was 85,6%. The highest number of consumption cigarettes was <1 cigarette per day (72,8%) and the lowest was 11-20 cigarettes per day (1,0%), 76,3% have a family history of smoking, and 58,1% had a smoking friend. A total of 98,2% of respondent have been exposed to cigarette advertisements and 63,3% often see cigarette advertisements. The average pocket money was Rp9.567,57. The average cost that spent on cigarettes was Rp 3.473,68.
Background: Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is an endemic disease in Tebing Tinggi, the number of DHF cases in 2022 reached 175. Protection strategy and the number of landfills are risk factors for the presence of Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between protection strategy and the number of containers in the presence of Aedes aegypti. Methods: This type of research was an analytic survey with a cross-sectional research design. The study population was all families living in 5 sub-districts in Tebing Tinggi city with 500 houses selected using a cluster sampling technique. Primary data collection used a questionnaire containing questions on protection strategy and location points, also observation sheets containing the type of landfills, and the number and presence of larvae. Data were analyzed by Chi-Square test. Results: The results showed that Aedes aegypti larvae were found in 144 houses and 14% of families had made protection strategies, 41% of houses had more than 4 containers. Protection strategies against the presence of grass bushes within a radius of 100 meters from the house and the number of landfills had a relationship with the presence of Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae (p<0.05). Conclusions: Tebing Tinggi city is an area that has a high potential risk of DHF. Suggestions for increasing DHF protection strategy and eliminating resting places and breeding places are important for empowering jumantik at the family level as well as providing ongoing assistance and education.
Abstract-The high prevalence of HIV-AIDS in Medan NorthSumatra as many as 3,780 cases and there has been a decrease in condom use (86%) to (51.5%) in 2011. In order to determine the cause of the condition it needs to be known description of female sex workers (FWS) behavior in offering condom for customers during sexual intercourse. The aim of this study was to explore in depth information about the behavior of female sex workers in offering a condom for customers during sexual intercouse in Medan Qualitative methods had been used in this study. The research data obtained by conducting indepth interviews to 12 female sex workers and 8 key informants consisting of National AIDS Commission, Department of Health, Office of Women's Empowerment and NGO in Medan, pimps and customers of sex. The results showed that female sex workers' knowledge and attitude about HIV-AIDS and condoms is high. Female sex workers behavior in offering condoms to customers is good but the bargaining power of female sex workers as well as the ability to negotiate in offering condom is non optimal, therefore condom use still inconsistent and low, so that it's required the increasing number of effort of comprehensive condom promotion both to the female sex workers, customers and related parties.
