Reaction of 2-BrC6H4PCl2 (1) with methyl lithium gave 2-BrC6H4PMe; (2). Metalation of 2 with n-butyl lithium and further reaction of the lithio-derivative 2-LiC6H4PMe2 with triphenyl phosphite yielded the title compound. P(C6H4PMe2-2)3 (3). characterized by NMR and mass spectroscopy as well as by an X-ray structure analysis. Quaternization of 2 with methyl iodide gave [2-BrC6H4PMe3]I (2a). the molecular structure of which has also been determined by singlecrystal diffraction methods.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
