Limbah minyak jelantah menjadi bahan baku yang tumbuh dengan pesat. Sejumlah 1186 rumah tangga di desa Sumbergondo kota Batu menggunakan rata-rata 1lt minyak per minggu di setiap rumah, dan membuang limbah di tempat sampah, saluran air, got, dan masuk ke tanah. Minyak sisa setiap hari diakumulasikan sampai lebih dari 166 lt. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat adalah memperkenalkan pengetahuan yang baru mengenai lilin yang terbuat dari limbah minyak jelantah, dan bagaimana produk itu dapat dikelola guna menambah penghasilan rumah tangga. Metode yang digunakan berupa sosialisasi dan pelatihan yang mencakup tahapan observasi dan survey, koordinasi pra-pelaksanaan kegiatan, persiapan, pelaksanaan kegiatan, dan uji coba penjualan, serta evaluasi kegiatan. Peserta kegiatan adalah ibu-ibu yang tergabung dalam organisasi PKK, karang taruna dan perangkat desa Sumbergondo kota Batu yang berminat berwirausaha. Kegiatan rintisan ini diikuti oleh 17 orang dengan melibatkan 5 instruktur dan pendamping. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah peserta pelatihan telah mampu memproduksi lilin lampu konvensional dan lilin hias yang berbahan baku dari limbah minyak jelantah rumahan. Setiap peserta pelatihan menghasilkan 2-3 buah lilin hias dalam kemasan gelas kaca. Antusiasme peserta sangat tinggi, selain karena selama ini belum pernah terpikirkan termanfaatkannya limbah minyak goreng tersebut, juga produk lilin hasil produksinya dapat dipasarkan guna memperoleh tambahan penghasilan. Rekomendasi dari kegiatan ini adalah perlunya teknologi tepat guna untuk mendukung proses produksi, variasi bentuk produk, serta pengemasan yang masih perlu disiapkan dengan baik.
German literacy comprehension is a new model of knowledge management. It is an intellectual power and potentially developed in education. Knowledge should be empirically investigated and more essentially evolved. This study aims to find a consistent model and focused on the learning of "German literacy comprehension, multidimensional representation". This model develops various comprehension and literacy theory, such as psycholinguistics construction specifically to overcome the problems of learning the German language and being an alternative of less innovative learning. It employs a qualitative method to explore the substantive area to gain new understanding through the situation of German literacy comprehension. It emphasizes that reality can be captured from a text through the process. The qualitative analysis highlights the variety of essential statements, sentences, or quotes that provide an understanding of how the respondents experience the phenomenon of German culture that affects literacy comprehension. The results showed that German literacy comprehension is built based on multidimensional representation which is an activity and a set of abilities that give an opportunity to the respondents, as the reader to skillfully communicate and comprehend according to the lingual mastery, logic, social awareness, and cultural competence development.
The purpose of this study is to reveal the management of the variety and quality of pottery products as a cultural heritage that contributes to the welfare of craftsmen and the community as well as the stability of local wisdom. Continuity and changes are made by the craftsmen as a result of the flood of products with the same function made of manufactured plastic. This study employed a Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach, which used approaches and policies in Pagelaran Village, Malang Regency by involving the community as effectively as possible. The data mining technique is in the form of participatory mapping. The results showed that, to improve the welfare of craftsmen, they carried out a harmonious combination of adaptive behavior and adaptive strategies that were carried out explicitly or implicitly in response to various environmental conditions in order to promote the variety and quality of local traditional pottery products. The community implicitly carries out the process of adjusting the cultural heritage of pottery by maintaining the sustainability and continuity of local traditional pottery products. Meanwhile, the development of a variety of products is explicitly carried out which leads to a shift in the function of the pottery itself as an effect of socio-cultural changes.
Abstract-This study aimed at revealing the significance of the implementation of Indonesian-German bicultural information literacy to foster positive values and attitudes towards learning the German language in university. The qualitative approach was used in this research because many specific and contextual cultural data were generated. The research subjects were the fourth-semester German Language Education students. The data were obtained from observation and the results of student performance. The data analysis highlighted a variety of important statements, sentences, or quotations providing an understanding of how the research subjects experienced a bicultural phenomenon that affected the information literacy in the texts they rewritten. The research findings showed that, regarding information literacy, students could explore the topic and identify new concepts to achieve certain goals. In terms of bicultural aspect, students were able to integrate the cultural aspects involved, by (1) identifying the foreign cultural identity (German) and comparing it with the culture of the readers (Indonesian); (2) presenting logical and objective perceptions in identifying the foreign cultural identity (German); and (3) explicating events, stories and incidents that present German culture and language.
The quality education process in learning foreign languages, mainly German, must be supported by learning media. To improve vocabulary knowledge about German Artikel with the Haustiere theme needs to be supported by "Barcode-Karten" as the purpose of this research. Multimedia-based learning media utilizes audio, text, and images by combining barcodes, links, and tools with that students are interested in finding out, interacting, and communicating. Borg and Gall's research and development model was modificated in this study. The validation and trial phases have been carried out on the development of Barcode-Karten media. Quantitative data in the form of assessment scores with a Likert scale and qualitative data were obtained from criticism and suggestions through questionnaires to validators and students of class XI Cross-Interest German Language at SMA Laboratorium UM. Data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The function of this media can bring out the desire and motivation and positively influence on students' vocabulary mastery. In addition, Barcode-Karten is worthy of being a learning medium to improve the knowledge of German vocabulary with the Haustiere theme.
