This research entitled "An Analysis of Speech Acts on Headlines Medan Newspaper". The object of this research focused on sentences containing speech acts on the headlines of Waspada Newspaper edited from May-July 2020. The purposes of this study were to determine the speech acts types and the pragmatic function of speech acts found on the headlines of the newspaper. The research model used was qualitative research. The results showed that the locution speech acts was found more than 1,520 (53%) on the headlines set on the Waspada newspaper edited from May-July 2020. The locution speech acts were mostly located because the speech acts stated something without having any purpose. The most common pragmatic function of the speech acts was a function representative with a total of 1,030 (36.4%). The function was broadly applied because newspapers were printed messages in order to convey information about the truth, therefore on the headline Waspada newspaper edited on May-July 2020, more truth was discovered. The specific goals achieved were to report the appropriate speech acts and the public readers can understand the message conveyed.
This study is entitled "Analysis of the Use of Hate Speech on Social Media in the Case of Presidential Election in 2019". The object of this study focused on words, phrases, and speech phrases of hate speech contained on social media Instagram and Facebook account in January-April 2019. The purpose of this study was to find out the use of hate speech uttered by netizens on presidential candidate pairs on Instagram and Facebook accounts, which was analyzed based on the Chief of Police's circular letter about seven speeches of hate, and identified the utterances of hatred that were more dominantly used in the social media. The research model used is qualitative research. The results of this study were derived from the speech on Instagram and Facebook social media in the 2019 presidential election. On the Instagram media, 200 sentences were analyzed in the form of hate speech, namely insulting 34 sentences or 17.5%. Denigration of 43 sentences or 21.5%. Defamation 1 sentence or 0.5%. 33. Unpleasant sentences or 16.5%. Provoke 55 sentences or 27%. Instigation numbered 21 sentences or 10.5% and spread hoaxes (hoax) 13 sentences or 6.5%. The most dominant form of hate speech on Instagram social media is provoking. In the Facebook media, there are 200 sentences found in the form of hate speech, namely insulting 8 sentences or 4%. Denigration is 40 sentences or 20%. Defamation is 9 sentences or 4.5%. An unpleasant act of 53 sentences or 28.7%. Provoke 29 sentences or 14.5%. Instigating 61 sentences or 30.5%. and spreading hoaxes (hoax) not found on Facebook's social media. The most dominant form of hate speech found on Facebook accounts is inciting.
The PKM partner's business is "Rumah Bandrek Helvetia Lezat". The business is run by partners because they see market opportunities that the traditional red ginger drink is very beneficial, one of which is healthy for the body. The most basic problem is the equipment available for the red ginger bandrek production process is still simple and the results are limited. This is because the red ginger milling process only uses a blender that has not too much capacity and takes repeated time to produce bandrek. Bandrek produced only 10 kg in 2 weeks. The second problem that was found in partners was that the owner of the red ginger bandrek business did not yet have the knowledge of how to market its products. This simple marketing knowledge certainly affects the sales income of this red ginger bandrek not smoothly. Moreover, partners have not carried out good financial management. (still traditional, profit is not known with certainty because it has not prepared financial reports for its business). Based on the activities that have been carried out by the PKM team, it can be concluded that the household business of Rumah Bandrek Helvetia Lezat "as a partner can run its business smoothly after being given assistance in the form of a ginger grinding machine and providing product marketing training can increase partners' knowledge in marketing.
The students’ translation ability exerted influence on the competence of students in transferring the source language into the target language. This competency included two contexts, namely the translating skill with grammatical and lexical accuracies, and the translating competence followed in a translation quality standard. Grammatical and lexical accuracies were tested through grammar error analysis, while the translation quality was tested through message accuracy, message acceptance, and message readability. The purpose of this study was to analyze the translation ability of the Applied Science undergraduate students to translate bilingual abstract texts in their scientific papers. The students were majoring in the Civil Engineering, Building Construction Design Management Study Program in Medan State Polytechnic. This study applied the qualitative method of research, which focused on document analysis. The sampling used in this study was purposive. This study was adapted to the taxonomy errors typed theory proposed by Ferris, Liu, Sinha and Senna (2013) and the accuracy translation parameter theory proposed by Nababan, Nuraeni and Sumardiono (2012). The research data were taken from the translation of Indonesian abstract texts into English at the sentence structure level. The data sources were derived from the bilingual abstracts of the Applied Science undergraduate students majoring in D4 Civil Engineering. The research findings were expected to demonstrate the students’ translation abilities in terms of language mistakes, features in English Grammar translation, and the level of accuracy of the translated message.
