This study analyzes the impact of signaling principles upon the effective use of interactive learning media. Normally, designers just design and develop learning media for use in schools without considering the way it eases users' tasks. Bearing in mind that signaling users while they are learning through interactive learning media is important, this study incorporates signaling principles while designing it. Thus, this paper aims to discuss the appropriate signaling principles for learning media from experts' perspective. The Iterative Triangulation Methodology was applied to achieve the aim. Altogether, activities were carried out in three phases: requirement analysis, design and development of the prototype, and expert evaluation using a walkthrough. Results revealed that although the prototype was designed by involving users, experts still discovered a number of flaws in the exercises as a result of not properly applying the signaling principles.
Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek penggunaan model pembelajaran inquiry training berbantuan media visual dan kreativitas terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa SMP. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMP Amir Hamzah Medan. Sampel penelitian ditentukan secara cluster sampling, satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen dibelajarkan dengan model pembelajaran inquiry training dan satu kelas kontrol dibelajarkan secara konvensional. Instrumen penelitian terdiri atas tes keterampilan proses sains dan tes kreativitas. Data dianalisis secara deskriftif dan inferensial. Analisis deskriftif mendiskripsikan keterampilan proses sains dan kreativitas siswa, sedang analisis inferensial untuk menguji hipotesis dengan Anova. Hasil penelitian diperoleh sebagai berikut. (1) keterampilan proses sains siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan model pembelajaran inquiry training menggunakan media visual lebih baik daripada yang dibelajarkan secara konvensional; (2) keterampilan proses sains siswa yang memiliki kreativitas tinggi lebih baik daripada siswa dengan kreativitas rendah; dan (3) terdapat interaksi antara model pembelajaran inquiry training dan pembelajaran konvensional dengan kreativitas siswa dalam meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains siswa. Kata kunci: model pembelajaran inquiry training, kreativitas, keterampilan proses sains THE EFFECTS OF VISUAL MEDIA AND CREATIVITY-ASSISTED INQUIRY TRAINING LEARNING MODEL ON STUDENTS' SCIENCE PROCESS SKILLSAbstract: The goal of this research is to find out the effectsof visual media and creativity-assisted inquiry training learning model on the science process skills of Junior High School students. This study was carried out at Amir Hamzah Junior High School Medan in 2014/2015. The sample was selected through cluster sampling: one experimental class was taught using inquiry training learning model and one control class was taught using conventional learning model. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis. While the descriptive analysis was aimed at describing students' science process skills and creativity; inferential analysis,which was done through Anova, was carried out to examine hypotheses. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe GI dengan metode Know-Want-Learn terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi experiment dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 21 Medan T.P. 2016/2017. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cara cluster random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam bentuk pilihan berganda dengan 5 pilihan jawaban sebanyak 15 soal. Kemudian pada kedua kelas diberikan perlakuan yang berbeda, kelas eksperimen dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe GI dengan metode Know-Want-Learn (KWL) dan kelas kontrol dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Setelah pembelajaran selesai diberikan, diperoleh postes dengan nilai rata-rata hasil belajar siswa pada kelas eksperimen 74,7dan kelas kontrol 63,53. Berdasarkan hasil analisa perhitungan uji t, ada pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe GI dengan metode Know-Want-Learn (KWL) terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada materi pokok Fluida dinamis di kelas XI SMA Negeri 21 Medan T.P 2016/2017. This study aims to determine the implementation of character education in science subjects on junior high school districts Patumbak TP 2015/2016.This research is a descriptive case study. The population in the study were all students of class VIII SMP respectively TP 2015/2016. The sampling is done randomly as much as 25% of the total number of sub-district Junior High School in Patumbak ie,; SMPN 1 Patumbak, SMPS Madani Marindal, SMPS Pesantren Al-Husna and SMPS IT Rahmat. The instruments used are observation sheets,The results are obtained, sum of the values of character education is implemented in every secondary school ie,; at SMP Negeri 1 Patumbak apply 9 character values with a percentage of 50%, SMPS Madani Marindal 1 apply 11 character values with a percentage of 55%, SMPS Pesantren Al-Husna apply 13 character values with the percentage of 72%, and SMPS IT Rahmat apply 9 character values with a percentage of 50%.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui implementasi pendidikan karakter pada mata pelajaran IPA di SMP se-kecamatan Patumbak T.P. 2015/2016. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif studi kasus. Populasi dalam penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII masing-masing SMP T.P. 2015/2016. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara acak sebanyak 25% dari jumlah keseluruhan SMP Se-Kecamatan Patumbak yaitu SMPN 1 Patumbak, SMPS Madani Marindal, SMPS Ponpes Al-Husna dan SMPS IT Rahmat. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar observasi, catatan harian wawancara dan angket (kuesioner) yang dibantu oleh satu observer.Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh jumlah nilai pendidikan karakter yang diimplementasikan setiap sekolah SMP, yaitu pada SMP Negeri 1 Patumbak menerapkan 9 nilai karakter dengan persentase 50%, SMP Swasta Madani Marindal 1 menerapkan 11 nilai karakter dengan persentase 55%, SMP Swasta Ponpes Al-Husna menerapkan 13 nilai karakter dengan persentase 72%, dan SMP Swasta IT Rahmat menerapkan 9 nilai karakter dengan persentase 50%.
