Na medida em que grupos populares vivenciam suas religiões, trilham caminhos que perpassam pelo controle, silenciamento e, inclusive, apagamento conduzido por instituições que construíram, ao longo da História, um espaço de poder no Ocidente e, assim, tentam reproduzir e manter uma lógica de hegemonia branca e cristã. Propomos aqui discutir vivências e religiosidades de pessoas que elaboram suas existências no interior do país e de pessoas negras que encontram na religião a possibilidade de viver seu corpo e sua ancestralidade, entendendo que tudo isso implica em repensar os próprios processos comunicacionais. As mediações tecidas no âmbito do que chamamos de cultura popular envolvem códigos muito específicos e configuram-se como verdadeiras estratégias comunicacionais. Chegamos, assim, à conclusão que perceber a comunicação como objeto vivo nos faz retomar discussões caras para a compressão do contexto social contemporâneo.
