O autismo é caracterizado por uma desordem cerebral que impacta no desenvolvimento da pessoa, podendo interferir na forma como ela percebe o mundo ao redor e interage com os outros, ocasionando desafios sociais, de comunicação (verbal ou não) e comportamentais (APA, 2014; CAMARGO; BOSA, 2009; KLIN, 2006). A adolescência é uma fase em que ocorrem mudanças biológicas e psíquicas que podem desencadear dificuldades e conflitos. Estudos têm apontado que para jovens autistas as dificuldades encontradas neste período são mais acentuadas. Os autistas relatam dificuldade em conseguir emprego, em mantê-lo, e em obter uma colocação compatível com a sua formação e expectativas. Esta situação coloca muitos autistas em situação de dependência do governo, instituições ou parentes, e em dificuldades financeiras, ainda que apresentem formação e capacidade para trabalhar. O presente artigo aborda a questão da inclusão dos autistas no mercado de trabalho, apresentando possibilidades para investigações acadêmicas e a construção de políticas públicas. O estudo constitui de uma pesquisa qualitativa, de revisão bibliográfica, seguida de problematização a respeito do tema.
