Este trabalho analisa a construção identitária nas festas religiosas de Dianópolis que ocorrem na Missão, zona rural da cidade. Pretende-se relacionar a festa com a identidade local a fim de contribuir para valorizar os elementos da cena festiva. As festas religiosas de Dianópolis são estruturantes para a identidade do local. Dentre as festas que ocorrem na cidade, as que ocorrem na zona rural (missões e sucupira) fazem parte da tradição festiva, principalmente para os moradores mais velhos que professam a fé católica. É possível perceber mudanças no modo de fazer, inclusive nas músicas que fazem parte do ritual, nas folias e nas composições das rodas e benditos pelos foliões. O espaço, que hoje é visto como um lugar de festa, no passado foi um lugar de sofrimento, de lutas e resistências, de dominação racial e de perseguição étnica. Índios e negros que viviam na região passaram por condições sub-humanas, de escravidão, aprisionamento pelas mãos de colonizadores. Essa origem de luta e resistência não pode ser apagada, muito menos silenciada. São essas pessoas descendentes dessa mistura de povos que hoje frequentam a romaria da Missão e dão característica não só para a festa, mas para todos os aspectos linguísticos, religiosos e de formação de identidade.
