Palavras-chave: Aprendizagem do Adulto. Tríade da Interação. Teoria e Prática Abstract This article aims to present a discussion about Pedagogical Mediation based on the principle of articulation between teaching and learning. To this end, a bibliographic research was carried out in different databases seeking to support these discussions. The pedagogical mediation developed in the context of Higher Education in the hybrid or distance modality is constituted by the integration of three elements, materials, activities and interactions. When it comes to interactions, specifically between the teacher/tutor and the students, we highlight the importance of the mediating triad - pedagogical, operational and affective -, which involves feedback actions of a different nature, but are essential actions to promote the student’s engagement in the course. It is also noteworthy that the student of an undergraduate course is a young adult or not, who already brings in his or her life trajectory experiences lived throughout the schooling process and, often, those related to the world of work. These discussions highlighted the need to consider the student's prior knowledge, as well as to provide theoretical and practical learning so that pedagogical mediation can favor meaningful learning and the development of skills necessary to work professionally in the technological knowledge society. As for the mediation concept, it was based on research by Masetto, Almeida, Moran, Freire and also on the quality references for distance education. The methodology used in this research was exploratory, qualitative in nature. The methodological procedures were structured in the elaboration of the questionnaire instrument, application and data analysis. Data analysis was performed in two steps: i. Documentary; Questionnaire applied to the research participants and their reports. In this article part of the analysis of the second stage is discussed that describes the tutors’ role in relation to pedagogical, affective and operational mediation, triad of mediation object of study of the researched tutors. The results showed that tutors understand the mediation importance in their actions with students, but many do not understand the mediation triad yet as a continuous process and that the continuing education programs offered by the institution contribute directly to the professional enrichment of the students’ tutors. Distance education has been gaining more space in the educational field, thus, diversified methodologies are elaborated in search of possibilities that leverage the experiences of this teaching modality, involving all the actors of this process as teachers and tutors. This article presents a clipping of a master's dissertation that analyzed the tutors 'understanding about mediation in the pedagogical, affective and operational dimensions, as it understands the important mediation process for the students' permanence and completion in the enrolled courses. We rely on research conducted by Masetto, Almeida, Moran, Silva, Freire and also on quality references for distance education in conceptualizing mediation. In this article, we approach the concept of mediation resulting from one of the analyzes performed with the tutors of a distance education institution in the country. The methodology used in this research is exploratory, qualitative in nature to understand the mediation of tutors as an inseparable part of distance education. The results showed that tutors sought through mediation to motivate and engage their students in the courses.
