A forte industrialização da região norte fluminense e o avanço das atividades imobiliárias faz com que o ambiente das restingas seja muito impactado. Por outro lado, a preocupação com a preservação da natureza vem crescendo de forma significante. Neste contexto, destaca-se a importância do paisagismo funcional, no qual os conceitos como restauração de áreas degradadas e utilização de plantas nativas são contemplados. Seguindo este conceito, foi proposto para a futura sede do Parque Estadual da Lagoa do Açu (PELAG) um projeto paisagístico que ajude a minimizar impactos ambientais, sugerindo um ensaio de recuperação de áreas degradadas. Neste projeto foi aplicada a técnica de nucleação que compõe microhabitats e pode ser utilizada para recuperação de ecossistemas nativos. Como metodologia básica usou-se um desenho esquemático de anéis hexagonais, cada um com 31 indivíduos, utilizando-se no centro de cada anel uma espécie vegetal pioneira de restinga, circundada por espécies secundárias. Foram sugeridas a utilização 10 espécies vegetais pioneiras e 10 espécies secundárias. Foi projetado o plantio das mudas com espaçamento de 1,5 metros entre si, ocupando uma área total de 47,39 m². A proposição de anéis e arranjos integrativos utilizando-se exclusivamente espécies vegetais das diferentes fitofisionomias de restinga, bem como representantes dos quatro tipos de mangues da eco-região de São Tomé, contribuem não apenas para a recuperação ambiental, como também estabelece forte iniciativa de paisagismo funcional, além de eliminar o risco da contaminação biológica, caso estas escapem das áreas de cultivo. Para a integração dos quatro tipos de anéis também foi proposta a abertura da “Trilha da Praia” que além de servir para a educação ambiental possibilita a interação entre esta proposta de paisagismo e um remanescente de restinga situado ao lado da área deste projeto, esperando-se assim uma influência direta sobre a área trabalhada.
Os fungos estão amplamente presentes em todos os ecossistemas da terra e, embora essa distribuição não seja ainda bem documentada, esforços têm sido feitos para catalogar e identificar estes organismos em diversos ambientes. Um ecossistema praticamente inexplorado quanto à micoflora é o de restinga, fortemente presente no norte do estado do Rio de Janeiro. A busca por fungos de plantas das restingas fluminenses tem sido feita desde 2012 pela equipe do Laboratório de Química e Biomoléculas (LAQUIBIO) do ISECENSA. Neste período, mais de 2000 isolados fúngicos foram obtidos e estão sendo mantidos conservados para pesquisas e utilização futura. Assim, este trabalho teve como objetivo a criação do banco de dados da Micoteca do LAQUIBIO, incluindo imagens das colônias de cada isolado para fins de consulta e comparação. Os fungos foram purificados e armazenados, recebendo numeração e os dados de coleta mantidos em planilha eletrônica. Foram feitas fotografias das colônias crescidas em placas de Petri e associadas à planilha, compondo o banco de dados. A análise dos resultados permitiu o agrupamento dos fungos a fim de permitir uma busca rápida, a seleção por restinga de origem, planta hospedeira e identificação morfológica ou molecular, bem como um registro permanente das características das colônias para comparação com fins de identificação e divulgação dos espécimes.
A sustentabilidade está baseada no conceito de utilização dos recursos naturais no presente, de modo que garanta a mesma disponibilidade para gerações futuras. Esta pesquisa propôs elaborar um projeto arquitetônico sustentável para a sede do Parque Estadual da Lagoa do Açu (PELAG) considerando a valoração dos recursos ambientais, o conforto para o homem e a própria estética minimizando o impacto ambiental sem renunciar à moderna tecnologia. Primeiramente foi realizado um levantamento topográfico do terreno que será utilizado para a construção da sede do Parque, situado entre os municípios de Campos dos Goytacazes e São João da Barra. A seguir foi elaborado o projeto arquitetônico da sede levando-se em consideração a sugestão de soluções para lidar com as condições ambientais locais, como elevada incidência solar, ventos fortes e spray marítimo constante. O projeto arquitetônico criado sugere a construção da sede em 4 blocos, sendo 3 deles situados no platô mais próximo da Lagoa do Açu, de modo a permitir que as construções privilegiem a contemplação desse corpo hídrico. Para tal utilizou-se vidros e tetos com pé direito alto tanto para permitir boa visibilidade e ventilação natural aliadas a um bom aproveitamento da luz natural, contribuindo para a realização de uma arquitetura de menor impacto ambiental, no que tange à questão da energia e adequação ao ecossistema. Foram respeitados os condicionantes ambientais, como vegetação por meio da integração do paisagismo ao remanescente da restinga no entorno imediato. Em conclusão, esta construção sustentável propôs alterações conscientes no entorno, de forma a atender as necessidades de edificação, habitação e uso do homem moderno, preservando o meio ambiente e os recursos naturais, garantindo qualidade de vida para as gerações atuais e futuras.
