Em um ambiente organizacional, os produtos, serviços e processos de negócio devem ser capazes de refletir os objetivos expressos nas atividades do negócio ou da solução a ser desenvolvida. Neste cenário, as leis têm se tornado uma importante fonte de requisito, feitas principalmente por órgãos governamentais. O não-cumprimento de tais exigências pode ocasionar sérios problemas legais e/ou financeiros. A Engenharia de Requisitos propõe-se em desvendar como relacionar os requisitos para a modelagem de software e/ou processos de negócio e as leis relacionadas. Este trabalho propõe um processo genérico para aplicação da Conformidade Legal na modelagem de requisitos de software, aplicável a processos de negócio
O Framework Nòmos estende o framework i* para alcançar a conformidade legal dos requisitos de sistemas de informação. A conformidade legal é uma exigência imposta por departamentos governamentais, a partir do conteúdo encontrado nas normas jurídicas. O não-cumprimento destas exigências por parte de um software pode acarretar transtornos legais e financeiros às empresas e suas soluções. Por outro lado, o fato do Nòmos ser dependente do i* pode ser uma barreira para a sua ampla adoção na indústria. Portanto, este trabalho propõe tornar o Nòmos independente de notação de modelagem de processos de negócio ou de requisitos de software, ao invés de ser aplicado exclusivamente no i*, como proposto originalmente.
