Evaluate the patient safety climate from the perspective of the health team members at a medium-sized private hospital in a city in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil and check for relations between the sociodemographic variables and the safety climate scores. This is a descriptive, exploratory and correlational study, conducted with 123 health professionals, with approval from the Research Ethics Committee. Data were collected using the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire. For analysis, we used Student's t-test, analysis of variance and Spearman's correlation (α = 0.05). The general score on the instrument was 67.50. The best domain score was found for job satisfaction (82.79) and the lowest for perceived management (58.90) and working conditions (59.58). No differences were found between the sexes, education level, presence of other employment or professional activities. The safety climate scores observed were lower than the scores recommended in the literature.
Resumen ResumoObjetivo: Avaliar o conhecimento dos profissionais da equipe de enfermagem de Unidades de Terapia Intensiva sobre hemotransfusão e fatores associados.
Objective: To evaluate the compliance with Standard Precautions by nursing professionals from high complexity units. Methods:Quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study, carried out in a Brazilian public hospital between January and March 2017.Data collection was performed through the application of an instrument with demographic and professional variables and the Brazilian version of Compliance with Standard Precautions Scale (CSPS-PB). Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with IBM SPSS® software. Results: A total of 148 professionals participated. The rate of compliance with SP was 65.0%. There was a statistically significant difference only in relation to the professional category (p<0.001). Conclusion and implications for practice: Compliance with SP by nursing professionals was lower than expected and there was association of compliance with SP mean scores only for professional category. These results may contribute to direct strategies to encourage adherence to SP, improving the safety of professionals and patients.Objetivo: Avaliar o cumprimento às Precauções-Padrão (PP) por profissionais de enfermagem de unidades de alta complexidade. Métodos: Estudo quantitativo, descritivo e transversal, realizado em um hospital público brasileiro, entre janeiro e março de 2017. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio da aplicação de um instrumento, com variáveis demográficas e profissionais e a versão brasileira da Compliance with Standard Precautions Scale (CSPS-PB). Os dados foram analisados por meio da estatística descritiva e inferencial no software IBM SPSS®. Resultados: Participaram 148 profissionais de enfermagem. A taxa de cumprimento às PP foi de 65,0%. Houve diferença estatística significativa apenas com relação à categoria profissional (p<0,001). Conclusão e implicações para a prática: O cumprimento às PP pelos profissionais de enfermagem foi abaixo do esperado e houve associação dos escores médios de cumprimento às PP apenas para a categoria profissional. Esses resultados podem contribuir para direcionar estratégias de incentivo a adesão às PP, melhorando, assim, a segurança dos profissionais e do paciente. Objectives: To assess the knowledge of nursing team professionals of a specialized hospital in oncology on transfusion practices and to identify factors associated with knowledge. Methods:Observational, analytical, cross-sectional study held in a large and philanthropic Brazilian hospital, specialized in oncology. The unsystematic sample consisted of 61 nursing professionals who worked at the hospital. For data collection, researchers was used a validated tool of checklist type. The descriptive statistics was held in the univariate analysis and the t-test and Pearson correlation in the bivariate analysis. Results:The average overall score of knowledge was 53.6%; in the pre-transfusion step it was 49.6%; in the transfusion step, 55.7% and in the post-transfusion step, 63.4%. Factors associated with knowledge included the participation in specific training courses on the subject, having post-graduate degrees, the search for information in the literature, the adoption or knowledge of any standard and/ or guidelines related to the transfusion process, making use of the sector's manual of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and number of participation in training courses.
Objectives: to describe sociodemographic and health characteristics of older adults with morbidity, identify self-care practices and verify the association of sociodemographic variables with those related to health and self-care practices. Methods: a quantitative, analytical and cross-sectional household survey, developed in the urban area in the countryside of Minas Gerais, from 2017 to 2018. A total of 796 older adults were assessed using validated instruments, such as Geriatric Depression Scale: short form, Brazilian Questionnaire for Functional and Multidimensional Assessment, International Physical Activity Questionnaire, Instrument for Assessing Attitude Towards Taking Medications. Multiple logistic regression (p<0.05) was used. Results: negative self-perceived health was associated with low income and education. As for self-care in health, being physically active associated with the age group 60 |-| 79 years and higher education. Conclusions: sociodemographic variables such as sex, age group, income, education, marital status, housing arrangement were related to health status and self-care practice.
